Whether he comes or not means Iowa is attempting to get QBs… the good news is we are trying. The bad news is that means they aren’t sold on who we have, the really bad news is no one wants to be here lol
This is a good point. I’m trying to decide if I’m comforted by the fact that they aren’t sold on who we have - meaning it at least indicates they have a brain but also indicates we’re in trouble! Ugh.
How many years can he even play? I think it's just 1 year? I think he's worth maybe a $250k gamble to create some competition and an insurance policy. I think the Auburn kid is our future QB beyond 2025 though.

Uh….he’s gonna be paid WAY more than $250k. He’s the 4th ranked portal QB. Pribula was supposedly paid 7 figures and he is like 13th….we’ll have to pony up for this one

Totally agree with this stance. Better pass protection against Mizzou would have helped. Better pass pro next season and our passing game should be better. Pay for a really good experienced new left tackle and guard.
Try to get a number 1 receiver if just for one year.
Upgrade the offensive line, get a good pass rusher and DB for the defense. THEN worry about everything else.
Competition? A player like Gronowski doesn’t enter the portal to be a possible backup somewhere if he has aspirations to play in the NFL. He’s on the market to be a starter on a P4 team. IMO, his fallback is WSU if option #1 doesn’t materialize.
He’s got one year left to make an impact against p4 teams to get drafted and make tons of money. Nobody should be advising him to go to Iowa to accomplish that. He’s mastered the handoff by now. I’d head to the big12, bad defenses all around
He’s not worth it for being the 4th best QB in the portal?? Thats crazy. Ya gotta accept that these guys are getting paid these days. This team has to have better QB play or it will never go anywhere and we’ll have to overpay for a good one in the portal. They need a starting level QB, period and he would be one.
Regardless of the players, maybe being a little more aggressive on both sides of the ball would help. Boise State stayed in the game vs. PSU by blitzing. Michigan beat Alabama because they blitzed the hell outta Milroe. Iowa lost because Phil Parker stubbornly (sound familiar) refused to blitz. Sure, Iowa needs more talent, but they also need to use the talent they have more intelligently and aggressively, like most other successful football teams.
And how many players that he followed are coming to Iowa? Just asking.
Iowa has Borud from N Dakota who was 2nd team FCS frosh all American from last year. Curious to see how him, pieper or louck do next year. DL huge ? In 2 years with graves, Pittman and pace all Sr next year at DT. Arm in a sling for bowl but think Brian Allen will be a stud at DE. Think merriweather lot of potential at position too. Not sure if younger eppy more interior or DE but doubtful to expect too much from him as a true frosh.
Don’t want next thing to misconstrued because I think Iowa still needs to address positions like DB, LB and especially Qb and wr in portal. However one thing I’ll say is there was not one player who entered portal from Iowa I was thinking that’s a big loss where you see so many teams losing starters and major contributors.
