Barta Magic?

The FB and BB seasons could not have come at a better more needed time for that guy huh? Before the FB season people were all over him for the Ferentz contract, the gender lawsuit, ect...

Now we are coming off a 12-2 FB year and sit at #4 in BB right now with his hire.

What a difference a few months can make in the realm of public perceptions.

Has any AD ever made as bad a hire as Lickliter and as good a hire as McCaffrey? Probably in the top 5 best and worst hires for men's college basketball in the past ten years. I give Barta a lot of credit for recognizing his mistake and cutting ties with Lickliter so quickly though if I recall correctly the players at the time (like Gatents) also deserve a lot of credit for that.

Gary Barta cut his losses quickly with Lickliter and was
blessed by his choice of Fran. He was in Hell with Lick
and now he is in Heaven with Fran. There is no question
that Coach Fran was a good hire compared to Pitino at
Minnesota, Groce at Illinois, Crean at Indiana, Collins
at Northwestern, and Miles at Nebraska.

I applaud Barta for swallowing his pride and cutting ties with Lickliter as soon as he did. However, if Matt Gatens hadn't been threatening to walk, would Barta have canned Lickliter when he did? Hmmmm...great question.

Anyone know if this Tracy G lady can be counter sued for defamation of character or some other tort for her baseless and inflammatory claims?

That would be nice news to hear.

Can they also kick her crony supporters out of the AD while they are at it? I'm sure there are a few.

Regardless, it took balls to fire your own hire after just 3 seasons. And the Fran hire was gold. Even the 10 year KF contract turned out to be prescient, although that was highly in doubt last year. A well deserved raise for Barta. The lawsuit stuff is just noise.
