Brian Ferentz to UNI

Is there any precedent for staff members being retained with an HC change let alone an assistant being promoted to HC at the same D1 school? I always see people begging for Wallace or Woods, but outside of this board never heard of it.

Based on her handling of the BF thing, I don't think Goetz wants to tie herself to any of this existing staff.
Retaining assistant coaches isn't unusual. For example, Urban Meyer retained Luke Fickell at OSU (and LF had even been the interim HC for a season). Internal promotion is perhaps less common, but one example that comes to mind is Jimbo Fisher at FSU.

Chuck Long and Bilema were retained by Kirk.

I don't get the Wallace love, what has he done? He was tied as closely in the 2020 scandal as Doyle, or Brian. Sounds like a self-centered bully. Go out and get a proven coach with no baggage, hopefully with Iowa ties.

As others have mentioned, the UNI job is nothing like it used to be. Trying to compete w/the Dakota schools right now is very tough. That job is getting harder and harder.

He can't go out and get talented guys to transfer in like the bigger boys can do, and his team would be harvested for developed talent by the bigger boys. No win situation.

You have to strike unknown diamonds in recruiting out of high school that develop and stay.
If a player does transfer to a higher tier program, that program should pay a luxury tax to the smaller program.

I agree - Wallace somehow has a clean record, but he was front and center in the 2020 scandal. It always pops into my head when people sing his praises - "wait, isn't that the guy who called one of his players 'simple jack'?" - something to that affect......

Yes, and we lost two players, one a starter because of the jack-ass. People have short memories.

I know many like to use the term dumbass, would that have been a better term to use?

I mean profanity is still rampant. It's a violent sport.
