The House opens 2016 with plans to send a repeal of the Affordable Care Act to President Obama’s desk, even if it is unlikely they can override his veto.

They’ll also try, once again, to ban federal funds for Planned Parenthood with a vote this week.

I don't get it, I hate Planned Parenthood as much as anyone and would love to end all federal funding to them, but work on and pass bills that can be passed.

Some part of me wishes Obama would not veto their vote and let the repeal go through. Be interesting watching the republicans actually have to lead at that point and come up with a replacement.

I get it, its so they can return to their constituents and show they are working on the issues they said they would. Its smart. I wish the Ds were as good at marketing, but they follow your thinking and try to compromise for a bill that will pass.

I don't consider myself either. In fact despite having some libertarian views I would consider myself to be a communitarian (the exact opposite of a libertarian the way most understand it) and a Christian Democrat. (Has nothing to do with the Democratic Party of the United States, it is it's own political philosophy)

This is the *political party* I'm in communication with and would identify with, although as you can tell from the website, we're rather small and we don't have anyone who holds an elected office.

I'm not 100% with them on everything, some of their platform is a little too idealistic for my taste, but I'm close enough to be willing to identify with them.
