Baylor

I mean, is anyone really surprised by this at all? I am just so sure you go from doormat program to one of the top NFL talent producers basically overnight with nothing strange going on.

You can tell the ones that are cheating without a lot of help. The problem is they will hammer schools like Baylor even though the OSUs and Bamas are doing just as shady stuff; they are just the ones that the NCAA doesnt want to touch because they are the blue bloods.

Iowa is the type of school that has to keep its nose reasonably clean because we are a second level team that the NCAA loves making examples out of.

Nope, a lot of people have been waiting for this for years. Their basketball and football programs both as you said, skyrocketed out of nowhere. They were loaded with all these super athletes and it was a matter of time.

One thing I think people are exaggerating is the connection between how good Baylor football has become and the cover up and non reporting of sexual assault allegations.
The allegations are against a most likely small minority of the players and most likely the players could have been kicked off and Baylor would still have had good teams because of the coach and their style of play. I think a lot of their success also has to do with timing of the demise of Texas football. Both schools recruit mostly in the state of Texas but Baylor started to get higher ranked recruits because they were the more hip program with their style of offense and Texas was on a downslide under Brown. They have also benefited from a notoriously easy non-conference slate for years. Now it could mean that if the staff was willing to cover up this, well then what about recruiting violations and other things that could have given them a competitive advantage which you have to wonder? Actually I just looked at their recruiting and they really haven't had great recruiting classes until the last year or so.

But these cover ups didn't give them that much of an advantage on the football field. I mean what are the number of players? I wonder how much of it had to do with protecting the Baylor image of a conservative christian school?

There is more to come. Can't see the AD and assistants all surviving this. The report is completely full of references to "coaches" and "staff" being the guilty parties.

Sure, only a dozen or so players were involved in this, but that should have been anticipated when bringing in so many dangerous and high risk players.

More heads will roll. I'll be surprised if anyone on the staff makes it through the year, as they all obviously knew what was going on. There is already an article on espn about this. Recruits should see the writing on the wall and start bailing big time.

Winning at all costs is simply disgusting.

Imagine these victims were relatives, your sister, etc.

Then think about the fact that people in power behaved the way they did in the name of winning a f'in game.

Disgusting

On the Dan Patrick show they had Randy Galloway on. He's been a Texas reporter for 50 yrs. He called Briles a slime ball. He said even when Briles was a HS school there was rumors of steroids in his program. Also he said that the HS Briles coached was a ranch town and no one could understand how he got such good Texas HS players to transfer to his school. He said anything goes for Briles as long as he wins.

That was actually a really weird interview. The reporter was very in tune with everything that is football in Texas. He called Briles a good guy and a friend but when you put him in charge of a football program he called him a slimeball.

I see where Ken Starr resign his Chancellor position. 1st he resigns as President and gets reassigned to Chancellor and back to a law professor. I was just wondering if he resigns his professor position, what's his next position, janitor with the same pay?
