Anyone else starting to get the feeling that the way this week is playing out, all of the critiques of our football program and people tearing us down, that a fire is raging with the coaches and team and that we might just come out Saturday and put it on Indiana? I was worried at the beginning of the week. I'm feeling more and more confident as the week goes on and the national media critiques every part of our football team, they're certainly providing bulletin board material and I'm guessing the team is circling the wagons and that we might just see a dominating football team on the field on Saturday. I LOVE Iowa football when they're in this kind of underdog role. We mIght not be an underdog in the game, but we're an underdog with the national media.

Honestly, I don't believe the players take the national media talk all that seriously yet, at least not this far out from the BTCG, and certainly not as seriously as the fans.

11-0 or 12-0 and ranked behind a one-loss team .....that would likely generate a good deal of talk inside the locker room and give the team incentive to prove the naysayers wrong.

The players know and heard the critiques. It's naive to think they don't, and I guarantee Kirk heard all of it including Jeffrey longs garbage about our offense and schedule. I just think it provides a little edge for this team the last 4 games, which is a great thing.

Another vote for beat down! Indiana's defense is absolutely terrible, they are dead last in the country in allowing 342 passing yards per game, 120th with 508 total yards per game, and 112th with 37.3 points per game.

Iowa is carrying a top 5 defense nationally (#6 scoring, #5 in rushing yards and ypc, #1 in rush TDs, #12 in yards per pass attempt).

It is a mismatch on paper, and the Hawkeyes are focused.

So far I think we've played better on the road, so I'd be fine with a big win! It seems the team embraces the U.S. against the world attitude of a road game and plays with an "edge" in that environment

I'm in the same camp as OP, very concerned beginning of week, starting to feel good now as well. 35-24 Iowa.
Agree with all above sentiments.

Extremely concerned about this matchup at beginning of week, but the more I dig into it, the more confident I am about putting on a classic Iowa clinic. Run the ball until they are gassed, and then keep running it. Use our defense to suffocate them and force key turnovers.

Hawks by a million! #HBAM

The closer the game gets the more nervous I am for the game. I would definitely welcome a beat down. It happened last time they played just an ok game at home against Illinois then they went on the road and stomped Northwestern.

I like Iowa is this one. Indiana's offense is very good, but then you look at Iowa's defense across the board, Ill take Iowa

Iowa controls the game on the ground while using the screen game to keep Indiana off balance and spread out, building a 27-10 lead by midway through the 3rd quarter. I think it then takes the look of the Northwestern game with Indiana throwing in the towel. King gets another pick, and Iowa rolls to a 48-17 win.

It won't be "us against the world" it will be "us against about 28k Indiana fans". The Hawks roll by 25. The first of 2 wins they'll get in Indiana this year.

Listen, this is the worst D by far we've played since North Texas. Yes, they have some nice skill players and a really talented Quarterback BUT Iowa is going to take Indiana to the woodshed. We have one of the best rushing attacks in the conference and this is a great game for our passing game to break-out of its funk.

I would be very surprised if Iowa punts it more than three times and doesn't put up at least 45 points. If the D can get 2-3 stops, this game will be a blow-out.

Saturday is our time to shut the country up. Everyone is expecting a close game but I'm not seeing it. Kirk has the boys dialed in like never before.

Two words to describe our locker room today- quiet confidence

I'm with you on everything except the idea that beating the Indiana Hoosiers is going to shut anybody up. The only chance to do that will be in Indy, not Bloomington.

I like this game for Iowa. I think they will be much more focused for this game and less rusty than last week with CJ a bit healthier. I also do believe that the team and coaches know that they are in a position to do some great things this year and that motivation coupled with the 'us against the world' mentality will work in favor of this team. I will gladly take a 1 point win, but I think Iowa- the players and coaches- has something to prove.

Yes, agree with you there. More so meant that we have a chance to be impressive. For the most part, the talking heads are projecting a close game (<7 points)... if we can come out and win by 21+, it would help the perception immensely

I'm going to be nervous from here on out, no matter what the "game on paper" shows me.

A couple of fumbles, a tipped pass that turns into an INT, a Koehn missed FG. I've watched enough football to know how the snowball starts to build on the road against what should be an easy win. This goes for every team we play from here.

If you have watched enough Iowa football this season, you'd know that despite a sh1tload of injuries, the Hawks find a way to win. Not always pretty.

I expect no less this week.

With the opportunity they have in front of them, I can't imagine a team needing any additional motivation. If this team can't get itself up and motivated to play football on each and every Saturday, that is a real problem (one I DON'T think they have). Teams like Alabama and Ohio St might get bored playing inferior opponents week in and week out as they wait for the CCG and CFP, but Iowa has not experienced nearly enough success to get that complacent.

I think we see a lot of our three headed monster running back and our usual stout D. Much like NW we will own the 4th.qtr.. Indiana's offense will give us some problem early but they won't be on the field that often to out score us. That will equal a Beat Down of IU.
