Minnesota finished 9th - 51.5 points
125 Polakowski 1-2 DNP
133 Brancale 0-2 DNP
141 Thorn - 4-2 **Seeded 2, got pinned in 3/4th match - 4th
149 Short - 3-2 7th
157 Kingsley 1-2
165 Krone 0-2
174 Wanzek 1-2, then 2-0 in 9th place bracket - 9th
184 Lil Pfarr 0-2
197 Big Pfarr 4-1 **Seeded 2, got 3rd
HWT Kroells 4-1, 3rd - lost to Coon TB2, Minny MVP of tourney

Worst Minny team since...???

They did better than MSU though. I literally thought Minkle was asleep in the chair a couple of times.

I expected a better performance from them at B10's. They have some studs waiting in the wings, though. They'll be back.

PSki you hope he could have won atlas the one more.
Brancale looks disinterested. He has a punchers chance with his pancake but you can't live off it. 0-2 was no surprise.
Thorn- lost a match to Sabatello that he won earlier. Sabatello is tough, not sure why all the losses this season. Thorn beats Grothia, avenges a loss to abinin and is leading Micah until a scramble results in pin. Thorn will be fine.
149- Short lost to Zain and Tsirtsis in the tournament. Not shabby.
157- Kingsley avenged a loss to Mascola, loss to Nolf, loss to WI kid that he beat close in the dual. That's upsetting but Kingsley has proven he is close with all guys 15th and under. He is probably who I expected much more than we have gotten this season. He is close to a WC but probably out.
165- a walk on that was never a state champion. 0-2 expected
174- Wanzek just happy he made it.
184- Pfarr walk on that never won state. 0-2 expected.
197- Pfarr knew Burak would be tough took care of everyone else.
285- Kroells wrestled Coon tough. Wrestled a more heavyweight style this tourney. Most of his losses occurred when being over aggressive.

Not a ton of major surprises for those that understand the current state of the gophers. You always hope for more but expectations were limited this season.

I think it was Gaetti who said ''It's hard to throw with both hands around your neck."

That's fair. I had to do a double take because I was confused with Northwestern for a second, if you wanna talk about completely shitting the bed.

G6 is trying to say that everyone wrestled below their seed except Kroells who didn't get the memo.

And Kroells has Stoll's bad knee to thank for his 3rd place finish. If Sam's healthy, the best Kroells does is 4th.

Minny will be better next year for a couple of reasons. 1. They can't get much worse and 2. 125/149/157184 will be better by at least a little.

The real issue for the Gophs will be how much last years NCAA flop and this years' team hurts recruiting going forward. If they lose out on Berge, as I expect, J will need to figure out a way to depart gracefully.

I fully expect them to go after a couple of former assts for the HC job. I'm sure Eggum is a good guy, but he's too laid back and they need new blood.

I'm still, to this day, trying to figure out how Brancale ever stuck Gilman in that dang dual meet.

I can't imagine Eggum not getting the job. MN definitely needs to hire outside the program, which unfortunately they won't do.

No doubt they have the RS on some good kids and they will improve but I'm not seeing enough to bring them "back"--and that's if they all pan out.

^^^ This. Outside of Stroker, not much to get excited about given their redshirt results.

Be fair! At least they scored positive points this year. And they even beat Maryland.

Don't worry......we won't hold you accountable for jammy.

You're kind of like that stray puppy in the neighborhood that everybody feels sorry for and feeds occasionally. ;)

We won't chase you away.

Women's VB is the equivalent to FB when comparing men's and women's programs at the U in terms of funding/revenue. Except the VB team has success.

Looking strictly at records I get ur point. Watching the matches I can see the potential in Stroker, Early, Steveson, Lizak and Streifel that are on redshirt. All will benefit from another year of strength training. That is something I feel MN does well. Streifel has another year to develop before he would be called upon to succeed Kroells. A lot to still prove though to bring us back top 5, especially considering what other teams bring back. Time will tell.

There is just not a chance that volleyball brings in As much revenue as football. None

Maybe they can't. JRob makes less than the women's volleyball coach.

This is an old list Jam. I think everyone has about doubled since 2008. And I heard Cael's PSU money is about $300000 before bonus and endorsements.

You site a 2008 article? Why?

Next to say J makes less than the volleyball coach is a loaded statement when you consider the camps that the athletic department supports by being very kind in the facility lease agreements.

They are kind in those agreements so they don't have to pay big dollars in staff costs and puts the onus on J to make up the difference. Which thus far has been fair to both sides and the program has won.

The goofs will be fine and frankly we need them to be in the mix as tge ACC is raising the bar. A world where 10+ teams have a legit shot at the title is growth and we all want that.
