Sarcasm or honest question?Have medicines ever been made out of tree bark?
If honest question, then there are many types of tree bark that can be used medicinally, especially the willow tree.
Sarcasm or honest question?Have medicines ever been made out of tree bark?
That's what I love about HROT. The people who have no reservations about calling a distinguished brain surgeon stupid about medicine.
Have medicines ever been made out of tree bark?
I just don't know how to respond to this...............................................probably, I recall lining up in elementary school in Ottumwa in the 1970's like a Nazi boot camp and all of us having to "take our medicine"- like it or not. we also had square dancing in gym class and the Baptists got a religious exemption, so there's that. we also all went into the auditorium around Christmas time and sang the same Christmas songs I've heard in church-talking about baby jesus. I doubt that is done now.
In reality, let's just all agree that Carson made the claims he did because he was speaking on behalf of a pyramid scheme/ He was getting paid to make the comments he did.
Sarcasm or honest question?
If honest question, then there are many types of tree bark that can be used medicinally, especially the willow tree.
Do you think that's what this was?Have medicines ever been made out of tree bark?
Why aren't you one of them? Maybe you need to flush your ears and eyes with tree barkI would assume that the usual suspects on this board would LOL at the very idea.
Do you think that's what this was?
I have no idea, I haven't read up on it at all. I am just scared to question a black guy in fear of being called a racist.
I have no idea, I haven't read up on it at all. I am just scared to question a black guy in fear of being called a racist.
Haven't you ever seen the episode of M*A*S*H where Col. Potter beats back a lack of pain meds with placebos?Manna-Tech? Seriously?
The placebo effect doesn't cure cancer. As evidenced by Carson's need to have the cancer surgically removed.
Tree bark medicine? Numerous, perhaps countless drugs have been discovered from compounds in nature. Too bad people like you who don't understand basic science fail to see how a changing climate is taking those cures from us, and creating more ills every day.I would assume that the usual suspects on this board would LOL at the very idea.
Ben Carson Wants to Censor Speech on College Campuses
On a Wednesday afternoon episode of the Glenn Beck Radio Program, Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson advocated censorship of "extreme political bias" on college campuses.
During the "rapid-fire" component of the program, Beck asked whether Carson would shut down the Department of Education. Carson responded that he had a plan to make the federal agency useful.
"I actually have something I would use the Department of Education to do," Carson said. "It would be to monitor our institutions of higher education for extreme political bias and deny federal funding if it exists."
This is not the first time that Carson has spoken about the need to eradicate alleged political bias from college classrooms. In June, he offered the same idea while appearing as a guest on a Las Vegas radio show.
Carson often complains that the United States is weighed down by what he calls a "PC culture." It seems that his defense of intemperate speech doesn't extend to political speech that he finds objectionable.
There's a difference between denying climate change exists and denying that it's being caused by people. There is "science" both ways.Well, it's understandable that you'd have a problem recognizing the truth, as you've demonstrated your ignorance of and disdain for scientific evidence on innumerable occasions by buying into the pseudoscience of climate change denialism.
Damn Mother Nature!Tree bark medicine? Numerous, perhaps countless drugs have been discovered from compounds in nature. Too bad people like you who don't understand basic science fail to see how a changing climate is taking those cures from us, and creating more ills every day.
Well, he often has his head up his ass. That's close enough for a Republican. He's a brain surgeon, prostate cancer isn't in his realm of expertise.
Unfortunately, like a lot of Republicans, Carson seems to think that facts, science and logic are all examples of extreme political bias."I actually have something I would use the Department of Education to do," Carson said. "It would be to monitor our institutions of higher education for extreme political bias and deny federal funding if it exists."
Well, he often has his head up his ass. That's close enough for a Republican.
They are different questions, but the answers are not different - both climate change and man-caused climate change are true. There's a difference between denying climate change exists and denying that it's being caused by people. There is "science" both ways.
They are different questions, but the answers are not different - both climate change and man-caused climate change are true.
No honest science, at any rate. I'm sure our deniers could come up with some garbage if they tried. And there is no science pointing the other way.
Mothers who kill actual babies go to prison or the loony bin.“We've allowed the purveyors of the vision to make mothers think that that baby is their enemy and that they have a right to kill it. Can you see how perverted that line of thinking is?” he asked.
Have medicines ever been made out of tree bark?
When he's making completely unsubstantiated claims OUTSIDE his field of expertise, he is most assuredly acting 'stupid', or pandering to a voting base.
One of the more humorous jokes among med students and doctors is:
"Where do you hide something from a surgeon?"
"In a book."
Guido, you a surgeon or are you just dating one? This is just flat out untrue and is frankly completely distanced from any semblance of reality.
Well, it's understandable that you'd have a problem recognizing the truth, as you've demonstrated your ignorance of and disdain for scientific evidence on innumerable occasions by buying into the pseudoscience of climate change denialism.
Totally unnecessary waste of space. This is just flat out untrue and is frankly completely distanced from any semblance of reality.
It takes much longer to complete surgical residencies than medicine, FP or peds, and largely because of the vast fund of knowledge. And the surgical subspecialties are generally the hardest to enter from medical school, generally attracting the best and most well-read students. Simply put, you will read more en route to becoming a surgeon than you will a non-surgeon. But lets not let facts get in the way of a silly diatribe.
The joke and much of the content seem likely from an internist harboring resentment. Being a great surgeon is far more than just "becoming ambidextrous" because you use your opposite hand, etc. It comes far more from understanding issues like complex fluid and electrolyte management (the type of thing often taught in books, it turns out), bioengineering, laser physics, robotics, histopathology, and the vast array of surgical literature that changes every month, just as medical literature does.
The actual surgery believe it or not can require a great deal of written preparation. But most of a surgeon's duties are outside of the operating room, rounding on complex ICU patients, seeing pre and postop (and nonsurgical) patients clinic and managing their medical issues. Medical issues as complex or more complex than those of a non-surgeons.

If that was intentional, that was very funny. Not defending Ben, but a lot of today's science is tomorrow's science fiction. That is fact.
