Ben Carson: Archaeologists Are Wrong, The Pyramids Were Built To Store Grain

Nothing like being doubly wrong and ignorant of the facts! First of all, no legitimate "scientist" has ever proposed that aliens were involved in the construction of the pyramids, and second of all, there is ample historically recorded evidence that they were constructed as tombs as well as the overwhelming archaeological evidence:

GOP frontrunner Ben Carson, in a 1998 commencement address, floated his own personal theory that the pyramids in Egypt were built by Joseph -- the biblical patriarch known for his coat of many colors -- to store grain, Buzzfeed reported.

In the speech -- given at Andrews University, a school with ties to Carson's Seventh-day Adventist faith -- the neurosurgeon shot down claim that aliens had built the pyramids. But he also disagreed with the archaeological consensus that the pyramids were constructed as tombs for the pharaohs.

“My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain,” Carson said. “Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain.”

In the video surfaced by Buzzfeed Wednesday, Carson goes on to lay out his argument that the pyramids were constructed for grain storage.

“And when you look at the way that the pyramids are made, with many chambers that are hermetically sealed, they’d have to be that way for various reasons," Carson said. "And various of scientists have said, ‘well, you know there were alien beings that came down and they have special knowledge and that’s how-’ you know, it doesn’t require an alien being when God is with you.”

Going all the way back to 1998? They're really digging deep for skeletons, now. At least they haven't dug up any bimbos yet like they did with Herman Cain.

I love politics. This is shaping up to be the most entertaining primary season... ever. The comedic value of the GOP will give us material until the end of time. Sure am glad to know that "this is the best Republican field" in a very long time.
I still haven't formed an opinion on Carson yet. I am starting to think this whole gig of his might be nothing more than a giant book promoting tour. His speaking fees must be going thru the roof.
What I want to see is if Trump can get under his skin. Doesn't seem to have him irritated yet.

I actually think Carson gets under Trump's skin as nothing seems to rile Ben. But Trump isn't actually intellectual.

Carson seems VERY likeable. If he can maintain leader status, the others will absolutely have to attack him at some point. While some of the things he has said to date leave you with the "WTH" thought, I can see a scenario where the attacks actually improve his standing.
But he will have BIG problems, imo, if he gets the nomination and has to debate the Dem on geo-political issues and foreign policy.
Am I way off?

I watched a history channel episode in pyramids once and they mentioned some were multipurpose. Some were for burial, some were living quarters, some were for storing grains, some were for the gods. Not saying he's right by an means, but he certainly isn't completely incorrect either.

Oh, the grain part is reasonable to talk about. But how he got it in his brain that he needed to keep bringing up aliens makes one wonder if Ben wasn't on something at the time.

That's the same channel that says they were built by aliens. Just sayin'

I keep telling you, that Mannatech is gooood stuff!
More and more, this is sounding like a slightly different version of RoboCop.

A worldclass brain surgeon's own brain is destroyed only to be rebuilt by a company called Mannatech. They save his life, but he has now been transformed into a robot who seems incapable of emotion and can only talk in a monotone voice. "B.E.N.," as he is known, is then sent into politics to become President where he must battle an evil billionaire and a powerful old woman who used to control the country. Along the way, B.E.N. deals with aliens, the ancient pyramids, and even a comical scene where a bad guy enters a Popeye's, jams a gun in B.E.N.'s ribs and B.E.N. says, "Your move, Creep."

I hear Will Smith is slated to play B.E.N. in the reboot.

Just your daily reminder that it’s even worse than it looks, even if you know that it’s even worse than it looks. The frontrunner in the Republican primary says that the pyramids — which are, you know, mostly solid — were built by Joseph to store grain. Meanwhile, the company run by the Republican candidate for governor in Utah has been hoarding gold and silver in anticipation of the coming crisis.

Nice work. Props.

Tell me what the odds are that there is no intelligent life in the universe except on earth - [assuming there is intelligent life on earth - which is a stretch]. What's so kooky about aliens visiting earth?

Other than not a shred of evidence and the sheer immensity of the universe...not a thing.

What about the mutilated cattle and anal probes?

I don't see how an extremely advanced civilization couldn't find a way to travel faster than light. Just because we haven't figured it out yet doesn't mean that it couldn't be done. That being said, I haven't seen any evidence either.

The problem is, we can't "see" faster than light, either. When we point our telescopes at a distant world, we're seeing what it looked like millions of years ago. It could be covered with skyscrapers today but we wouldn't know it.

From what I've watched/read about it, it wouldn't be traveling as you imagine it now. It would be moving the surroundings around the ship or using wormholes or some such sci-fi deal that we currently have no idea how to do.

I asked about "odds", not evidence.

Ummm...no. You made a statement about the odds of there being life elsewhere and then you asked a question about the kookiness factor of aliens visiting Earth. Those two have not much to do with each other. I answered your question.

And even if they did develop such a drive...what would lead them to Earth? The first radio signals - and they were beeps and clicks - went out only about 120 years ago. So only those aliens within that sphere would know about the possibility of "intelligent" life here. And thanks to the inverse square law, those signals would be nearly undetectable anyway.

So maybe they are analyzing planets the way we are. Looking for conditions that COULD support life like distance from a sun, a suitable atmosphere, etc. That means they would have to settle on our sun out of tens of billions and look directly at it.
