How can you make this case knowing that black people have overwhelmingly voted Dem since 1936? They won't support the GOP because the GOP doesn't support them.

I think you have an individual, who worked his tail off. Lots of people can get out of situations, it's up to them how much they want to reach their goals.
I don't believe your skin should be your sin. The road may be more difficult, but you can't let your situation or others view of how "you should be" define you.
Ben Carson IS one of their own...and they DON'T support him. Obama received their support because they also supported what he stood for. Had he been a Republican espousing the same views as Carson, he would have received no support.
Unfortunately this isn't true. Obama didn't nearly do for blacks what they thought he would when he was elected.

That isn't the point. Would he have been successful WITHOUT govt assistance? HE said his grades improved dramatically when he got those free glasses. What might have happened if he hadn't gotten food stamps or housing support. You don't know and neither does he.
If he didn't have the drive he could've been from a middle class white family and not amounted to a hill of beans.
I don't know if many blacks think about what their stances are on many issues. Like I said, you'd be surprised at why ppl vote for who they do.

WaHawk is from two black parents so he would get my vote as "HNIC" if we were voting on such matters.
It's called being perfectly human. Few people ever are well balanced in all of the major areas of life. Anybody who says they are does not have enough humility.

His mom is white, so following your logic he should know more about whites too because his mom is white. See how silly your initial comment was?
If you're actually asking why I claimed Swag's mom was white, it's because she is in fact actually a Caucasian female as he's stated many times before.

WaHawks and I know some of the same PPL. He's from Waterloo and I'm from Sioux City. There's a larger number of blacks in Waterloo than Sioux City.
As I said, I have a very large family (my dad is from the south originally and grew up on a cotton farm. Cliche I know) 8 boys and 4 girls. We're spread out everywhere from the West Coast to the East Coast. Out of the second generation we grew up in the Midwest and South.
From my grandparents there are close to 100 grandchildren. Keep in mind, this is just my fathers side of the family. This doesn't include blacks I had as friends from high school and college and then after.
