Ben Carson tells really weird story about Popeyes

"Guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. And I just said, 'I believe that you want the guy behind the counter,'" Carson.

Problem is that Carson is a vegetarian. His campaign team said he went in there for French Fries.

Apparently Ben has multiple strategies for dealing with shooters. In this case it was to do nothing and ask the shooter to go after the innocent guy behind the counter instead.

I'm no Carson supporter, but I'm guessing there is a lot more context within the article. In other words, I don't think he just told the story out of the blue the way the OP typed it.

I'm not sure how you put this into context to make it any less weird? Ben said that he went into Popeyes for fries, took a gun to his gut, and tried to save himself by insisting the shooter take out the guy behind the counter instead.

My bigger question is what Ben hoped to accomplish by telling this yarn?

As usual you miss the point. No one cares that Ben lied. We care that he lied so badly and still failed to get the job done. We should be electing the best lier we can, the other team has the KGB working for them. Clinton has been building a worldwide coalition ready to go on day one. This. A school shooter is trying to kill people. If you try to play it cool, you likely will still get shot. A guy robbing a popeyes likely won't shoot everybody in the place. Play it cool is probably your best bet.
