Ben Kueter is a World Champion (U20 Men's Freestyle)

Kueter is an impressive competitor ... and he's tough as nails. However, his "speed" seems more linked to short-area quickness.

I remember seeing some footage of him in coverage in the UA all-American practices ... and he was getting torched.

Either he's just not really experienced with technique in coverage ... which Wallace can help him with ... or he's better suited to play on the DL, where his short-area quickness and knowledge of leverage translates better.

With his wrestling future ar Heavyweight , I think he ends up at DE and that he will be an outstanding DE !

LB/DE, I don’t think he will fill out to 270 like Roth but he will be a great player. home grown talent is very underrated. good genetics per capita. That’s one of the reasons for KFs success IMO.

I still like him as lb. I always thought his speed was excellent but now i don't know. Do we have a 40 time? Not a big indicator for some as a lb but his heat seeking missle strikes from the lb position in high school has always made me drool. He looks as fast as Jewell did at that age but could be wrong.

Im more excited to see him on the Mat. He won the world Jr championship against a Turkish Wrestler that has done nothing but wrestle since early childhood. No school, just a state project since he was hand picked by the govt as a child.
Yes—as much of an Iowa football fan as I am, I hope he goes 100% wrestling. He’s an elite talent on the mat. #1 P4P in his class (without Christian Carroll)….

I’ve seen him play quite a bit, I think he would make an excellent MLB just at FB, but since he is doing both he’s gonna be pushed to gain more weight. Could do very well at DE but just don’t see him at DT so maybe he would be happy with full time Iowa Heavyweight Wrestler and part time Iowa DE? Maybe I’m thinking this way because of coach Bell emphasizing flexibility along the line???

What weight does his HS weight usually compete in college-wise? I think I remember there didn't use to be such a weight but it was added some years ago.

He would have to be a hw. I have always found it semi odd the giant jump in college from 197 to potentially 285. Not that any hw are actually that big but what a giant difference.

Heavyweight used to be unlimited. There were 300lb wrestlers and some guys were closer to 400lbs. before they changed it. I believe it was around 1987 that they did that.

So small town high school heavyweights? Can't wrestle a lick but also can't be moved.

For those too young to remember Iowa State had a heavyweight years ago by the name of Chris Taylor who was 450 lbs plus. He was almost impossible for opponents to move. He relied mostly on his weight and not wrestling skills to win matches. Other colleges saw this and followed suit if they could. Consequently those matches were not good. Also, I think the NCAA were concerned about health issues. Google Chris Taylor wrestling and youll see what I mean.

All the injuries the wrestlers endure when football is his path to future earnings would be the obvious why not but if Kirk is ok with it and he wants to try then go for it

I think he grows into DL. A quick 260-270 lb. world champion wrestler at DE is a mismatch for just about any OT. Hope he is able to compete in both sports his entire college career.

Come to think about we're recruiting our ASS off on future DE and LB talent right now as well. :p

don't know why poster decide what is best for a 18 year old. like putting 50-60 lbs and playing a certain potion before he steps on the campus,

have any of you told Bell. Wallace or even Phil about your future plans for this 18 year old. but more importantly what about this kid about what his choices are going to be going forward, must be nice to dictate what his future is going to be

Ah yes, everyone knows that random internet message board posters ultimately decide the fate of every University of Iowa athlete. Why do you get to dictate that he can't do those things? See how dumb those things sounds?

no I let the coaches decide his fate, also I am not here like you saying that he needs to gain all this weight to play position like you are. to me he is just fine being a LB,

I never said any of that. Slow down before replying.
