*****Bennett Stirtz & Isaia Howard will follow Ben McCollum to Iowa City. Who else will be? 11 of 15 Roster spots filled*****

some people are claiming that is what our transfers are worth but Iowa didn't really pay that much

will each big that we need cost $1.5M to $2.0M?

can you believe we are even typing these numbers? ;)
No, they will not.

I do know Freeman didn’t get nearly that much from Creighton. That is partially because his family is wealthy though. I think Dix may have gotten something on the low end, and was offered more by Indiana and Illinois.

6'2" guard Jason Drake played his freshman year at Cleveland State & last year at Drexel. He has TWO YEARS left.

Last season, in 33 games, he averaged 26.1 minutes, 11.1 pts, 3.0 rebs, 3.1 assists and .70 steals.

He shot 42.8% overall, 39.6% from three and 86.5% from the FT line.

He has received interest from the following programs: Iowa, St. John's, Pitt, St. Joe's, Temple, UCF, Duquesne, Indiana State, Dayton, Youngstown State, New Mexico State, UCSB, South Florida, Western Kentucky

No one seems to really know the $$$. The $6.6M already spent thread seemed high to me, but I know nothing. If that is true, BMc needs at least another $4M (maybe more) to get the 3 or 4 players I would most like him to add to the team.
From what I’ve read with revenue sharing once that judgement case is finally settled. Plan is they’d bring in the big firm Deloitte and schools would have to report any NIL deals over I believe was $600. Be nice to have some more transparency to it all.

When you run out of player FROM Drake to recruit... Recruit one NAMED Drake. It's destiny.

The 6.6 thing was just someone's guess based on his own numbers he assigned to players.

No way Iowa has actually spent that much but it means we're probably getting some discounts.
So, what is a good guess for what Duke and Alvaro will get? I know it depends a lot on who Iowa ends up competing with. I would guess it would be somewhere between $1M-2M each, which is a pretty big range. If it is closer to $1M, then I think Iowa has a good shot. Even one of those two would make me feel a lot better about next year. Both would have me thinking Iowa can compete to be somewhere in the top 4-5 teams in the B1G, if we stay healthy. I still want to see a third PG as an insurance policy, if nothing else. Nyk would fill that need very well, and give us an heir apparent to Stirtz.

I really have no solid idea of what these guys who are coming from mid majors are worth.

You're probably in the neighborhood though.

I hope it's not more than that for guys who aren't proven at the p4 level or aren't projected first round picks this year like Stirtz.

I wish, as part of the court settlement (that that judge likely approves), that what these players were getting in total salary was public knowledge.

Even casual fans' jaws would drop if they know what a player was getting from boosters + from the school's revenue sharing.

I don’t care about that so much, but I do wish there were some sort of cap.

Once you enter the portal potty, what happens if you don't exit (ie, find a new team)? That would be shitty (pun intended).

Some players seem to be annual porta potty visitors. At least I think they should be back to only having four years of eligibility, barring injury or a redshirt. I understood the guys getting 5 years, but not those getting at least 6 years. I still wish Thelwell could have found that 6th year. He would have been a nice, probably cheap addition, for BMc.

It seems it will just be me and a handful of other fans at college athletics here in a couple of years.

I can tell by the 100 million posts on the college basketball board in the last month that people are really losing interest.

The only thing we talk about in the offseason now is money. So odd. Remember when we were looking forward to the PTL, lol
