*****Bennett Stirtz & Isaia Howard will follow Ben McCollum to Iowa City. Who else will be? 9 of 15 Roster spots filled*****

It’s fair to assume McCollum doesn’t accept the job without some assurance of a healthy NIL pool.

He’s smart enough to know without those funds, it’s impossible to compete nationally and he’d be out of a job in a few years.

We can tell ourselves the hometown kid picked Iowa because it’s his dream job, but it’s a combination of that and the financial resources that Iowa can offer.
He will get 15 years

Take this shit to the off-topic board. I've seen a lot of people that I disagree politically with happy with the McCollum hire. Can't we be united as Hawk fans at the very least? No we have to make everything political because there's not enough of that right now.
He is an easy “ignore”
Such a partisan lunatic

IDK. How does the U give him "assurances" of healthy NIL pool?

Many people are charged with the task of building NIL money, including BM. I don't know if he plays golf, but he will be invited to about 100 golf outings (and many, many other events) this year to rub elbows with fans that can contribute to NIL.

Sadly, recruiting and fundraising are a big part of the HC job description.
Pretty easy, I imagine. Beth talks to donors about potentially hiring BM. The pitch is something like “are you willing to donate X dollars to Swarm if we can get the deal done?” Beth takes the information back to BM and says, “if you are willing to sign the contract, we’ve secured a NIL pool of X amount.”

Your latter point is also true, both things can be correct.

I'm not throwing around anything old man. I don't care if people give to the Swarm or not. I'm just stating that a kid from the 11th place team in the Valley is being offered a million dollars as Fran I believe reported. We know Coleman Hawkins got 2 million from K St last year. Just saying that an actual winning player like Stirtz is worth well more than a guy from Valpo. If you don't like what's going on quit following Iowa sports.
The current NIL system is not sustainable and I am not a big fan. I can still happily follow Iowa sports. Both those things can be true.

If we can somehow convince Dix to stay we may have the best guard lineup in college basketball next year. And we all know that guards are the key in college basketball. Give me those two, Pryce and a couple big guys that can defend and rebound.

Speaking of rebounding....

Rebounding Margin, National Ranks:
#25, Drake
#339, IOWA

Look at who is #1 and #3 in the Transfer portal.

Hope you are right. ;)

So, this is the current 7 man roster, correct?
Bennett Stirtz
Isaia Howard
Chris Tadjo
Carter Kingsbury
Seydou Traore
Badara Diakite
Isaiah Johnson-Arigu

In this group, Johnson-Arigu will be important to hang on to. Diakite has upside that McCollum can work on. Hope this roster adds some Iowa players and maybe 1 or 2 Drake players soon. Then, look to the portal to fill holes.

when you think about it, especially now a days, to still have 7 on the roster is a minor miracle.

If BMac is here for 15 years, it will mean that he has shattered FM's wins record and it could be the most successful 15-year stretch in Hawkeye basketball history.

I'll sign up for that.
If he's as good as they say he is it won't take 15 years to break Frans record.

Iowa needs to get a GM to do this crap and let McCollum do what he does best, coach.

Yeah. The thing about these big $ NIL pools that amazes me is this - they spend most of the pool each year, right? So, basically they start from scratch each year?

So, not only do you ask a big donor for $100,000, so ask them to give it every year. Not tax deductible.

Astonishing.

Tonje was a okay but nothing special player on a bad mountain west team and then coming off an injury, I do not think it's fair to use an outlier player like that to evaluate the rankings. It would have been insane to predict that he'd be an all American, Wisconsin guard development is just crazy. Look at what happened to Storr as soon as he left or Johnny Davis turning into an all time draft bust.

I wonder if Stirtz is giving Iowa and BM a deal. Reported Dix is a $1.5M player in the portal. Dix would eat up 1/3 of Iowa's portal bank account. DAMN!
