It all starts with beating the hell out of Nebraska. But, all that shows is that he won't lose every game in his first season.
Hmmm, that would seem to be what they're paying him for, would it not? ??? Illinois has some talent. For whatever reason, Lovie couldn't get them to be consistent over the course of a season. We'll see what Bret gets done, but I could see the Illini being at least a middle of the pack team, and a tough out. One thing we know for sure, he'll be motivated to come after Iowa, and Wisconsin, so we better be ready for anything......

I've wondered for a long time how much Bielema drinks. I mean, being heavy is one thing. But, he doesn't look healthy in his face. I don't know if he even touches alcohol, but he has that look to him. I know some heavy drinkers and they have that same look...if that makes any sense.
Bert is a former division one lineman. He’s a naturally big boned guy. I still would say he’s more athletic than anyone on this board.

Perfect fit for Illinois. After being the Chicago Bear coach, Lovie was not interested in the process of recruiting.
The Illinois high school coaches felt snubbed. Bret has a good personality and will get Illinois back.
He knows how to win in the B1G - 3 straight rose bowls with Wiscy and might be able to keep Illinois talent in-state (Iowa has done well in Illinois recruiting).
He's had two 3 star commits from the deep south this month. One rb from Alabama I wouldn't mind having.
I'd take that challenge and I got some years on him. If it were an eating challenge, then I am out.

Uh huh. I know that type of person that goes to the gym every day. It is their social experience. Not much gets done for sweating.
It will be interesting to see how he does. Nothing wrong with a new coach saying he wants to win now. What is he supposed to say, "we'll suck for a few years?"
His time at Arkansas didn't end well. Couldn't quite get over the hump. But the SEC West is not for the faint of heart. Alabama, A&M, LSU, Auburn. Depending on who your cross-overs are, good luck having a good record.
He's never built something into being really good. He took what Barry had and kept it good. But he will definitely bring an edge to the West division. They will more actively recruit Illinois I'm sure.
