I think the best breakfast burritos I've had were from Illegal Pete's, which is a small chain around Denver. They were worth driving out of your way in the mornings to pick up.

I love burritos and I love breakfast food, but it seems a hard thing to perfect. Most all at not good. I do have a favorite local place that makes a perfect version. I won’t share here, due to the OP rules.

You don't need the beans, rice, lettuce, or whatever other filler they use. Tortilla, egg, cheese, meat, hot sauce, done.

In Iowa City/Coralville Estella's Fresh Mex serves breakfast burrito's all day and are the best I've had in the state. That said, the Cali burrito's in San Diego in PB are better, but in Iowa City area these are pretty damn good.

New Mexico has a chain called Blake’s Lotaburger. For a chain restaurant they make great breakfast burritos. My go to is either the carne adovada or bacon with green chile. If I am feeling especially fat I will dine in and get the carne adovada smothered in red chile sauce.

I’ve found Estella’s to be very inconsistent. Say what you will about Pancheros, but you at least know what you are getting each time. That said, neither compare to La Regia.

If you're ever inside the loop (I assume you live in the suburbs) the best tacos in Houston regular and breakfast are at Tierra Caliente. Been eating there since 2002 and it's consistent and out of this world. Caution: The red sauce will light your ass on fire and the green is still hot but not nearly as hot as the red.

I hardly ever eat BK or breakfast burritos, but before the DSM skywalk BK closed, I admit I made more than one walk of shame to my office with a bag of a couple breakfast burritos in hand. I liked them because they weren't too big, and had a little bit of everything in them, including the hash brown rounds.
