Take your Hawk colored glasses off. It’s a huge hole.

Also, didn’t kids have to declare their intentions to transfer by May 1 if they were going to?
Not an expert, but if they do it over the summer they need a waiver, which have been handed out like candy lately.

Portal may officially open again before school,(aug 1?) not sure on that

May 1 is to be eligible for fall and winter sports this upcoming season. Aug 1 is still the portal reset date for the year.

Because Parco lost to Beau Bartlett
Flawed logic. We can play "worst loss" with just about any wrestler. Max lost to Manzona Bryant last year. That may just be a bit worse than losing to Bartlett in OT. Meanwhile, Parco has throttled Abas and is 2-1 against Millner.

Don't get me wrong. I like Max. Hell, I made a thread specific to him and Warner during NCAA's last year, saying how impressed I was by both. I hope he beats/places ahead of Parco and proves me wrong. But, I can't pick a guy that just can't win in the blood round over a guy that is 2 for 2. So far, the numbers don't lie...

Manzona Bryant also beat Bartlett who beat Parco. He got hurt so who knows what he would’ve done last year. Yahya Thomas took 3rd in the country and is 0 for Murin. There’s a list of guys that have placed that lost to Murin. You stating that just because Parco placed it’s a forgone conclusion he wins a dual meet against Murin. That’s flawed logic. It’s clear matchups matter and Max would win. I’m done arguing with you because you never admit you’re wrong and always have to have the last word so go ahead and respond and enjoy the silence.

That last sentence is classic hypocrisy. It screams "I am actually the one that can't admit I am wrong and want the last word" by stating if you respond to me you are the bad guy.

Simply put, reading comprehension and actually paying attention aren't your strong suits. I am the FIRST to CREATE a post when I am wrong STATING I was wrong. Also, I literally posted that I hoped I would be proven wrong.

As far as Bryant goes he was 6-5 with 2 losses to Munson and 2 losses to Crooks. Injury or not, he wasn't likely to qualify, let alone place.

Finally, I NEVER said Parco beating Murin was a "foregone(correctly spelled for you) conclusion". I simply was referring to favorites. If you want to pick upsets that is fine and Murin winning would only be a very slight upset. But, the NUMBERS show Parco is the favorite and there is NO WAY to spin it otherwise.

Unlike you, I welcome another response and hope you don't resort to silence...

In my opinion, “so and so placed higher at NCAA’s than this person, so in a hypothetical matchup he should be favored” is a much more sound argument than “this guy beat this guy, who then beat this guy, so our guy should beat this guy”

Agreed. You can almost always go down the rabbit hole to find the "worst loss" and try to transitive property that into your argument. But, if you are going to do that, you can't be disingenuous. You need to then look at the worst loss of your guy as well. Once you do that, the argument almost always falls on its face.

Obviously, we don't have head to head results, so we end up with this type of discussion. Still, like I said before, I HOPE Murin proves me wrong. I would be quite happy if he won. Other than Warner, he is probably the guy I cheer hardest for on Iowa's team. I can relate to the guys that have to grind it out every second to win at the DI level. Nothing makes me happier to see those types make the podium.

FYI, wrestlestat says Parco beats Murin 6-4. But it also ranks Murin @ #7 and Parco @ #8. They are both 6-6 against common opponents. In short, a toss-up. You are arguing about how many angels fit on the head of a pin. There's no right or wrong answer.

Surprised you would be the one saying that actually. One guy has scored 7 and 8.5 in 2 tries at NCAA's. The other has scored 4, 2 and 2. One guy shows that, when it counts, he gets it done. The other, simply hasn't.

Although at a higher level, this is sort of like arguing Marinelli over Joseph. After seeing the 2 careers finish, who would you pick when it counts? In a meaningless dual, I guess you can pick the 2 Iowa guys in this exercise, but at NCAA's?

Not my intention. I picked Marinelli to win it all more than once and fully expected Murin to AA last year. Both guys wrestled their hearts out and were/are 2 of my favorite Hawkeyes in the past decade.

I just simply try to separate fandom from realistic expectations. Both guys showed immense character and heart and I would want them on any team I would ever theoretically coach. However, that doesn’t change the fact that the results ARE the results…
