BF contract amended

BF should have been let go, but he wasn't, so that's no longer something to consider. So they did something ala Harbaugh at Michigan.

Brian is never getting fired. I'm not sure how many times people have to be told this before it sinks in.
How I think it would go down is if that were imminent is Kirk retires and a new HC brought in and they pick their own people. So people who want Kirk gone in my opinion should hope Brian flops in 2023 and he has to go. I think Kirk rides out at that point so no one gets fired.

I actually was twice and got very nice bonus checks for my efforts. You accomplish that by never looking back my friend. Look forward, set new goals and work your ass off.

Winners work hard, Losers Whine.
How would you have felt if your boss had his son over seeing one of the sales teams and they finished in the bottom 5% one year and bottom 1% the next year against the competition? Meanwhile your team and manager are kicking butt carrying the water for them but he incorporates some asinine bonus structure in trying to justify him keeping his position for another year.

Listening to the Two Guys Named Chris podcast, it sounds like Brian still has outs with this garbage contract.

If Iowa were to go 11-2 but averaged 21 ppg, the language in the contract seems to mean that the contract would be terminated, but they could renegotiate a new contract for Brian.

Is this not a 1 yr deal anyway?

I think if he meets at least one of the stipulations, then while the contract can be terminated, Iowa can also still choose to bring him back.

Then again.......there's really nothing stopping Barta/Kirk from bringing him back regardless of how Iowa does, because they've made it clear it is their decision and nobody is gonna influence that decision.............

Those kind of workplace examples/comparisons are lost on me because I truly don't care about money and am comfortable enough in my own (I can't think of the right word off the top of my head, self-confidence?...self-worth?) to not really give a single marble of sh** about how much a co-worker makes, let alone someone "above" me in the food chain, much less waste time getting jealous about it......................

But hey some people have to care about that sort of thing, I suppose. :)

If we had scored 25 pts last season we win the West and go 12-2. or 11 3. Sign me up for that.
I don't really care about BF...just give me the pts.
Frankly, I am surprised they did this at all.
This just brought more attention to last season's poor offense and put real pressure on the Ferentz clan to meet specific numeric goals.
I have doubts that they can get to 25 pts a game.
If they fall short BF will be out...no way they do not honor this contract. It takes KF out of the picture and he may just hang them up also.
I believe this is a significant step toward accountability in the program.
Now, any hawk fan are free to root against the Hawks out of hatred of the ferentzs....me? I want them to win every game 42-3 and win the West again. Go Hawks!
Too bad that "the West" will cease to exist in another year. If the B1G eliminates divisions altogether so that the top two teams will make up the conference championship game, and with USC and UCLA on board, trips to that game by teams the likes of Iowa will be few and far between.

Will be shocked if CCGs exist when CFP expands to 12.

I agree with this 100%. I always worry about myself and my family. What someone else is doing or making I could care less. The way I was brought up and lived and it stuck.

And for this, I would depart the company and go to a rival or do my own start up. Freedom baby.

This is just another GB/KF thing turning Iowa into a national laughingstock. Already been mocked by The Athletic and SI.

"This is the at-home equivalent of your wife telling you that all you have to do is take out the trash and put the toilet seat back down to meet your weekly goals," joked Athletic football reporter Ari Wasserman.
not agreeing with this ridiculous goal set but as far as the Athletic they are an even bigger “JOKE”.

OMG that would be glorious on the message boards then. Kirk and Brian are too aggressive on offense and should have just ran the ball and ran the clock!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong for my interpretation but I'm taking your comment as it would be a gotcha on Kirk haters if my previous comment happens. I meant it more as a Kirk/Barta have created a terrible situation where with these public stipulations we have a coach who could be making in game decisions based on hard caps in his contract.

I would assume most OCs are always trying to score more points and may have private goals laid out for them that they know could impact their current job or next contract but in this situation we know exact numbers and creates a tense situation of public perception of whether each call is for himself or the team. I feel myself rambling so I'll stop here.

I'm convinced that Brian being retained is good for Hawkeye Nation. All the whiners and complainers can come to this site and have a bitch-a-thon against Barta, KF and BF.

Think how much better you feel after posting. You can come over here every few hours and continue piling on. Doesn't make a difference other than letting you vent.

The good thing is you don't bitch at your wife, yell at your kids, argue with the neighbors or kick your dog. Or maybe you do because nothing makes you happy.

Have a nice day. Don't worry, be Happy!
I'm convinced you're on old, attention whoring troll. Who is dangerously stupid if you really think retaining BF is good. But probably just trolling

I love it when our own fans shit on the big ten west like they are Clone fans. No one at Iowa created the Big Ten west or determine who was in the Big Ten west or what the crossover games would be. I guess to most the only two worthwhile teams in all of the Big Ten are Michigan and Ohio State and that's it.
Your brain is shit. Do you dabble in the meth? (no judgement)

Talk to me about this… So the reality is, it’s just wishful whiny bullshit explain the schedule to me in your concocted scenario.

Essentially, Iowa is going to play UCLA, USC, Michigan, Michigan state, Penn State, Ohio state, Wisconsin, and a supposedly rejuvenated, Nebraska right is that how you see it?

People are so freaking stupid!! And of course all those aforementioned teams are going to be kitty about getting to go to Iowa city and play Iowa!!

Just dumb!!

I don’t but it’s called tanking. Never really applied to college football until Barta and his brilliance.

Meh….this is a crappy situation but Iowa is a good institution and he’s been here a long time. He’s likely more appreciated and decent at his job than people really understand.

Brian Ferentz and the lawsuits withstanding 😊

As an example, I think Jaime pollard @ Iowa State is a douche bag, but there are plenty of Iowa State fans that don’t like him and I can’t fathom why. It looks to me like he has done an incredible job over there!

The agreement/contract whatever it's called is actually worse than just bringing him back. A 50k pay cut on a 900k/year salary is LOL-able. Honestly a slap in the face of 99% of fans who are making much less than that and spending their hard earned money watching the Hawks.

It's going to be fun next year tracking the 'points-o-meter' week to week.

For the record, assuming the QB stays healthy next year and is a smidge better than Petras I don't think BF will have any trouble hitting 25ppg (assuming D and ST TD's count). Petras makes a throw here and there over the last 2 years and Iowa is a completely different team and much better record.....

So is that 25pts by the OFFENSE per game, or in total? Should have had his pay dropped to match is offensive ranking...
Exactly what i was thinking. If the offense scores 25 points a game every game, I'll be happy. Not ecstatic but happy. I'd also love to see a decentive of salary dropping for every game the offense scores 24 pts or less. Also a fire clause of a below 90th offensive rating. 90th isn't very good so sounds good to me. The 1 year contract is something. Wonder if that means anything.

The Athletic is absolutely a legit resource, some of the best writing on college football and MLB baseball. Take off the black and gold glasses.
NOTHING TO DO WITH GLASSES…… more about their baseball coverage….do not usually bother with what they have to say about college sports……you would have to admit there is some bias shown, however.

How exactly are they biased, by pointing out the obvious narrative that Iowa has the worst offense in the power 5, or one of the worst in all of college football?

Just get rid of them both. They are not any good.
It was only a matter of time before the "Dr" supposedly, joined the voices. One of many reasons I hope for success for all of our teams, because as long as we play well, we know for a fact you'll never post a damn word on here.

you keep going with your no offense football narrative, I don’t really care. I put forth my opinion of the Athletic‘s overall literary ideology. Whatever they have to say about hawkeye football is a separate matter. your the one who likes their point of view there. as I said previously I could care less.
