BF contract amended

you keep going with your no offense football narrative, I don’t really care. I put forth my opinion of the Athletic‘s overall literary ideology. Whatever they have to say about hawkeye football is a separate matter. your the one who likes their point of view there. as I said previously I could care less.
good to know..LOL

The or else if he doesn't meet the 7 wins and 25 pts a game makes me think that if one isn't met, say the 25 pts a game, then he is going to be replaced by a new oc. Thus the 1 year contract. With the addition of the portal transfers there cannot be the players are the problem excuse.

Serious question: Do you believe Kirk and Gary are “never looking back” and “look forward, set new goals”?

I have no doubt they all work hard, but surely you have heard plenty of times the definition of insanity.

That’s where we’re at right now with Iowa football. If the Iowa offense is stagnant again this year, then enough is enough. I can’t believe 2022 wasn’t that point, but whatever.
The stage has been set. He only has a one year contract vs. two year and needs to improve the offense significantly. 25 points per game is a big jump. If the offense is stagnant then I agree a change should and will be made.

I think McNamara will make a huge difference in making quicker decisions and we will move the sticks. A more mature line and stronger run game could make a huge difference in our offense.

Truly, congratulations, it’s always an accomplishment to set goals, reach them and be financially rewarded for them.

I oversee 50+ people that have to set goals every year. We meet, they present where they want to improve and how they can achieve them. My issue is not with BF, it’s with the AD. Those are horrible goals. Do other coaches get significant increases for reaching goals? The concept and delivery is flawed. He doesn’t want to address the real issue.
I totally agree. Goals should get harder than the previous year to challenge continuous improvement.

I hope you’re right.

Last game of the year. Iowa scores a TD to tie the game. Going for 2 would get them to the 25 point average. What do they?

Mediocrity...

Why, why would a fan want “that”?
See mediocrity, that's why. If Iowa is to take the next step, it has to be without BF.
I want Iowa to compete with the top 10, year in and year out. We have the facilities, and 7/8 of the staff to do so.

Why would a fan want less, or to accept mediocrity?

Meh…. I’m actually not going to dialogue with you about this, and not because I have anything against you I just don’t think we can see eye to eye. I agree I want that too, but it’s not really as practical is it feels like it could be…..

There have only been four or five teams in the last 50 years, not named Nebraska, Ohio State, Miami, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, USC, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan and Notre Dame.

That have won national championships…. And of those Tennessee, Michigan, ND and Texas have only won one piece!!!

And for all intents and purposes, they either sit in the middle of recruiting, Shangri-La, or national brands, like Michigan & ND…

Quite frankly, if Iowa had the same cachet and branding that those teams had, they probably would’ve been ranked more often and a little higher over the last 40 years… There are plenty of things slated against us!

The four you wonder… BYU, Georgia Tech, Washington, and Colorado… And none of those since like 1991 and I did misspeak on Notre Dame they won one or two in the 70s but only one 1987 since then!!

Brian likely will be fired. ;)

Check this out:

LOL, it's fun when you look even deeper into this:

In the 2 games that Iowa amazingly scored more points than the average allowed, one of those games included 2 scoring drives that started in opponent's territory (NW), and the other included 2 scoring drives that started in opponent's territory PLUS a defensive score (WI).

I actually didn't realize what a lofty goal this 25 ppg threshold is. Not counting defensive/ST scores or drives of 36 yards or less, the offense averaged a whopping 11.3 ppg last season. No matter how well the defense and ST perform this season, that kind of support (being essentially responsible for >6 ppg) is almost certain to decrease.

Tommy Boy has his work cut out for him to improve this offense from pathetic to really bad. If they actually achieve this 25 ppg average, he'll probably owe pretty much his entire salary and career to Parker and Woods.

What a joke this has become.
