Big Man

They'll need a big that can bang down low. They can cover more finesse bigs with the current roster. What they would struggle with, barring Josh O really stepping up, would be the Cockburn or Dickinson type player. Granted guys like that are a tough matchup no matter what. But it's hard to see a 6'7" post guy, no matter how much strength and mass he has, being able to do the job against a player similar to either one of those guys. I'd like to see 6'10" and 250# as the minimum requirements of any transfer they'd bring in to be short term support at the 5.

Where is Iowa at with respect to number of available scholarships? I think Weezy probably won't be back, but that's just a guess.

Unfortunately, not too many 6'10" 250# guys hanging around waiting to be called. There are a few already in the transfer portal who look intriguing, but I wonder about guys who don't finish a season before leaving their team.

Who knows, maybe some grad transfer will fall into Fran's lap

Foster ain’t coming to Iowa. He should have come last year, and I’m sure he knows that by now. But that ship has sailed. Later sucker.

What about the Texas big transfer?
Edit: Will Baker committed to Nevada. That was slipped away, would’ve like to see Fran go after him, and we definitely would have competed well against Nevada of all places...

In the perfect world, I agree with you, but if no quality really big man is available, a 6-7 guy, who can bang and was on an all-defensive team as a soph, paired with Keegan, could work against most teams, at least for 4-5 min spells when Nunge is resting. Right now, the next guy up after Keegan (assuming the Big O still isn't ready) might be Connor.

I agree with you. If someone 6’10” 250lbs comes along, great. But, I could also see the value of someone in the mold of a Cordell Pemsl, too.

FYI, Indiana State center, who as a soph, was on the Missouri Valley Conf. all-defensive team. Only 6-7, but 250 lbs. Transferring because the head coach was fired. I have never seen Tre Williams play, but could be an interesting player for Fran to take a look at, given our need for help inside.

I’d settle for Nate Thurmond even.

How about Paul Mokeski? :)
