I probably watch 90+% of BIG games every year and a few things I have noticed.
1) If you watch other teams/games you can see their overall improvement over the year. Yes there are exceptions, but Iowa stays pretty static and I really do not think this year is a one-off. Pretty much playing the same (with the exception that the defense has improved to some extent this year) at this point of the year and teams have their number.
2) Most coaches when the team slumps changes the starters, defensive sets, offensive sets, or minutes for players etc. FM typically stays with the same starters (injuries are the only wildcard to the starting five). As an example look at Izzo with MSU this year and how he has found the magic sauce now. Good teams usually tend to improve with experience/play IMO.
3) What happened to the inbounds plays? Most of the time Iowa has difficulty just getting the ball back in play without turning it over.
4) Iowa more times than not finishes the year on a downward trend.
I was wondering if anyone else thinks Iowa really does not improve much over the year and/or shakes things up when team/players are not executing?
Anyway just a few thoughts.
