He had just been there like 4 times, muscle memory. It was the wrong strategy to keep doing it.
Dix looked like he was running in wet cement all night. Thelwell was laying bricks out there big time. Harding helps us on offense but is huge liability defensively. Our guards were a big negative tonight.
Whose job was it to remind Dix that Iowa had a game tonight?
Body language from this team has been awful all year. Signs of a mentally weak team which we are. Team lacks toughness and leadership.
On the upside, I thought Mulvey showed good energy tonite on the bench.
Mulvey foul on 3pt shots was a killer. Why are we even guarding Fox at the 3pt line? He's 25% on year from 3.
It’s time for a change. Hope Fran does the noble thing since he doesn’t coach defense. But he won’t. He’ll wanna get paid with a full buy out. Thanks Barta, you f’n douche.
I'll bet you he has a gimpy ankle or something. Was not expecting Drew to brick all of his open looks early either. Drew was electric in the Indiana game.
Because Fran doesn’t give the kid any meaningful minutes to know what to do out there. Fran’s just an idiot that doesn’t coach defense from a physical and mental perspective.
Dix is was limp, ineffective tonight. He could not find the hole. He never seemed to get up for the game.
The starting lineup put Iowa at a huge disadvantage at the start of both halves. That group of five together. Not all of the individual themselves, but the group.
This team is so bipolar I wouldn’t be surprised if Iowa goes 11/17 from three and up by 14 in the homestretch. Not expecting that, but it wouldn’t shock me either.
Most of the players were sleep walking tonight for whatever reason. They woke up but they overslept.
I don’t quite know what to think. Mad? Not really. Sad? Not really. Apathy? I don’t think so because I watched the game. Maybe just resigned.
Defense was okay. There was effort tonight. But Minnesota played slow, so the low score was as much a product of the pace of play. Harding played well. Freeman played well, but I wasn’t excited about him shooting that FT. Traore played well, but the same feeling about him and his FT. Hope they can beat Penn State. They need it for nothing other than keeping the bottom falling out of their confidence.

Yes--- I don't blame Mulvey, his coach doesn't play him and doesn't know how to coach defense anyway. Mulvey needs to stay in the paint and protect the rim, especially vs a Minnesta team that isn't a good 3pt shooting team.
Minnesota had 1 guy that was a threat--Garcia. In 1st half, Fran started out his small ball lineup and Pressed Minny and double teamed the ball handler and of course, two easy passes to Garcia for layups to start the game breaking the press. You give good players easy baskets early and you're handing over momentum.
This was a bad Minnesota team. Iowa has a collection non-mentally thought shooters. Sandfort could have had a great game if he'd actually squared up for his 3pt shots. He was 7-19 from field, not terrible. 1/8 from 3pt line though---that just sucks for a guy that is supposed to be a shooter.
Drew's stats:
2 points in 20 minutes. He shot 1-7 (14%) overall and was 0-4 from three.
I'd even take Jared DeVries at this point
DeVries is not leaving West Virginia, that ship sailed last year....Beth just has to do her job and relieve Fran of his coaching position. It's time. The problem is, can Beth pull the trigger and actually find the right coach to turn this program around and bring back the fans to Carver. 15 years is enough and I get the feeling that Fran has the same opinion looking at him on the sideline. He's just going through the motions as coach.
