Big Ten announces schedules through 2025

The Big Ten's "protected crossover rivals" for 2022-2027:

Nebraska vs. Michigan
Wisconsin vs. Ohio State
Iowa vs. Rutgers
Minnesota vs. Michigan State
Northwestern vs. Maryland
Illinois vs. Penn State

Purdue vs. Indiana (permanent crossover rivalry)
Yuck; 7 straight years of Rutgers?
I would rather play OSU/MI/MSU even if we ended up losing 4-5 of the games. Harbaugh and Meyer do not repeats of 2016 or 2017 on a regular basis.

Riddle me this.

How in the hell are we playing/(played) Penn State in:

2016
2017
2018
2019
2020
2021
2023

7 out of 8 years? Who is making these decisions?
did you just now realize that? lol
it is our "forced rivalry"
wiscy gets off with the 4th best team in the east every year.....jimbo

glad to see that non sense ending!

I don't understand why they can't bring mi/msu/osu(one of them) to the "west" and give them a permanent rivalry game with whatever team they need.
Clearly they only care about one side of the conf!

Right, but South Dakota state is ridiculous. Schedule an FBS team.
We'll see, but I think SDSU can hang with Iowa State a bit this weekend. I've seen spreads anywhere between SDSU +12-18 vs. ISU. They have a decent FCS squad and are expected to battle NDSU for a title. SDSU's QB was on Iowa's radar back in 2014.

They can hang for a half. Expect maybe 10-3 at half and ISU will wear down the SDSU "D" and pull away to a 31-6 Final. SDSU is going to have much difficulty moving the ball.

I will be very surprised if SDSU only scores 6 points. Expect the Jackrabbits to find the end zone a couple of times …. 17 or 20 sounds more realistic to me,

You understand you don’t get to pick your opponent or hide in the b10 west in the playoffs. See 2015
It means with that schedule they’re a lot closer than if they were to play OSU, PSU, MSU and Michigan in cross overs.

Tomorrow I hope....I am all for that. 4 years on and 4 off would be a good mix...or drop it all together. the game might influence 1 or 2 recruits from Iowa

Doesn't really have anything to do with recruiting. We'll get nearly every in-state guy we want who aren't ISU legacies or want to study ag science. The game just is a no-win situation for us.

Tribune had an article about this today. B10 schedule match-ups literally set by pulling names out of a hat.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...-future-big-ten-schedules-20180829-story.html
They can say that, but you happen the just get the most dominant team in each division paired up in Wisconsin and Ohio State? Nebraska and Michigan, both being coached by former QB’s who had good coaching success before coming back to their alma maters? Looks like storylines they can hype to me.

I agree that the rest look like they were pulled out of a hat.

Completely disagree. The days of fraudulent records being rewarded in the national playoffs are over

I'm sure he was talking about non conference

Even then. Most of those year since have isu and one non power five. Name one team that doesn’t play a cupcake every year but when we get our one or 2 scheduled I love the bitch fest by fans here.

Michigan State should have been Iowa cross over rival...

Rutgers is one hellva head scratcher..
nah, we already had to play the pedophiles every year, we don't need to play some other disgraceful team from that division each year. pretty sad when jimmy is running the cleanest program out of their top 5 teams

Big Ten Announces 2022-25 Football Schedules

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa football team will resume its day-after-Thanksgiving meeting with Nebraska beginning in 2022, as the Big Ten Conference announced the entire slate of Big Tenfootball schedules for 2022-25 on Wednesday.

The Hawkeyes will close each of those seasons against the Cornhuskers in the Hy-Vee Heroes Game series, beginning Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, in KinnickStadium. The Hawkeyes have closed each season since 2011 against Nebraska on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but will meet Wisconsin on the final weekend of the regular season in 2020 (home) and 2021 (away).

“We are excited to resume the tradition of the Hy-Vee Heroes Game with Nebraska to close our regular season,” said Gary Barta, Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair. “The Friday game has been well-received on both campuses and the annual recognition of heroes from each state has been a popular program.”

The Hawkeyes will play four conference home games in 2022 and 2024, with five Big Ten contests in Kinnick in 2023 and 2025. Along with its West Division foes, Iowa in 2022 will play Michigan at home and travel to Ohio State and Rutgers. Along with Michigan, Iowa will also host Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.

So, SO glad Iowa isn’t doing a return trip to CSU & playing in Fort Fun! I know, I know, we’d have to do the 6 home game thing like Oh St, Pur, & NW have coming up in their future schedules.

Anyway, just glad Iowa doesn’t have an interesting road trip against a formidable opponent, with a brand spanking new stadium, that sells great micro brew beers, that just happens to be a very manageable road trip that Minn & Pur are doing very soon.

Yeah. ISU hasn’t lost to FCS teams much if it all in the last 15 years or so. NDSU & UNI (multiples?) excluded of course.

Each team was paired with a team from the other division to play each year from 2016-2021. I believe we got PSU, Nebraska got OSU, Wisconsin got Michigan, Northwestern got MSU, Purdue got Indiana, Illinois got Rutgers, and Minnesota got Maryland

It was a blind draw, per @TomKakert on the Hawkeye Report Podcast.

This time Wisconsin drew Ohio State.

Nebraska drew Michigan

Iowa, of course, drew Rutgers.

Advantage Iowa in at least one of the crossover games.

It was a pretty good podcast, btw; a couple of other interesting things (that are not yet public) got revealed. Tune in to find out. ;)

They will get manhandled by the ISU DL. They have to move the ball to score, and that is going to be difficult for every ISU opponent including the hawks

Just because you don't have a clue about any team outside of Iowa City, doesn't mean others don't. I am not too worried about either of our first 2 opponents.

When you have a very experienced and good QB like SDSU has, anything can happen.

I think Iowa will surprise with offense against ISU. Gonna be a wider margin of victory for that one than expected.

Yeah so blind that Indiana and Purdue drew each other. It should have been a televised show so we could watch the magic lotto balls pop out.

I thought the 4 or 5 year of protected crossover rival was supposed to be based on records of the previous 4 or 5 years. No way Iowa is comparable to Rutgers.

Iowa won't be able to move the ball. This is the first year in some time that ISU's DL will handle the hawk OL. You better beat NIU otherwise 0-2 start is probable.

ISU's top 3 D-linemen are pretty darn good (Bailey, Lima, and Uwazurike) ... however, the talent and experience aren't that astounding beyond those guys.

On top of that, ISU is still trying to sort out its MLB spot AND it has two new safeties.

The above scenario isn't painting an otherworldly strong picture for the ISU D ... particularly heading into only the 2nd game of the season (on the road, no less).

That's not really the issue. The junior varsity at Roosevelt doesn't play the varsity squad at Dowling. The perception is that FBS teams schedule peers. FCS is not considered an FBS peer.

I am way more worried about NIU than Clown CC. You guys will see a quick return to the reality of 5-7 being a great season in your world.

Formidable? They just got embarrassed at home to the Rainbows. Not impressed.

Not sure if you are serious. Maybe it’s just ignorance.

It’s already been stated in this thread that Indiana/Purdue is a permanent crossover game. It’s been that way since the divisions were created.
