Big Ten Media Days

This is incredible because a fair percentage of our own fanbase don't think he should even be playing. This is an incredible compliment for Connor.
Lot's of us know very little about the inner workings of college basketball, all we know are results. Connor has had his ups and downs in his 5 years at Iowa, he has definitely seen it all and has should have the experience needed to help Iowa this year.
I'm expecting about the same results that Iowa had last year before the Big Ten Tournament. Go Hawks!

The guys look very GQ.

He's a Junior
No that wasn't the reason. If it was, Tony, Patrick, or Kris would not have been there!
The real reason that Ogundele or Mulvey were not there, is that both of them are only good enough to get spot minutes this year even though we would like to see one or the other play extended backup minutes behind Rebraca. Probably not going to happen.

The real reason is because it is a reward for the effort these kids put out in the previous year and their ability to represent the program well. Josh has been injured, too, and has been more of a question mark than anything. It really wouldn't be fair to put him in front of the mic and expect him to feel at all comfortable.

so the guys (players) get money for winning ncaa tourney games? is that what Bluder said? is that new?
No, when a men's team plays an NCAA tournament game they receive a "unit" of the TV revenue. So when you win, you keep earning TV units. This often goes to the conference and is split up amongst the rest of the teams.

This article explains it in more detail:

It's also the argument for why the small schools like the play-in games for 16 seeds because those conferences really need that opportunity for the second TV unit.

he’s a great interview though….. I just think while he’s popular with his teammates….. he’s not considered a leader…… but what do I know……. do you listen to T’d up? his appearance on the show was good stuff 😂😂

thanks, i didn't know that. if that's what she's referring to then i, personally, don't think that has anything to do with equality, vis a vis men's vs women's sports. it's completely based on entertainment value, for which people haven't placed as high a value on wbb as mbb.

it would be interesting to see how all the universities divvy up the money, maybe that's what she is insinuating (although the article says no direct athlete salaries). interesting.

Why are we not taking the Big O?

Because he's been a low performing SCHOLARSHIP player thus far.

I assume the coaches get to choose who goes. Some men's teams only brought 1 player, some brought 5. Similar things with the women's teams.

did you hear any more on why coaches and/or reporters did not like Minneapolis as the host? Was it just because Indy is more central for everyone?

Seemed like there was plenty of Iowa media there. Not sure about the overall media turnout, though.

Yeah basically the discourse around it is that having it in Minneapolis means all the media from team's east of Indiana needed to fly instead of drive. This raises obvious expenses. The people complaining most about it were Indiana media which I just am going to ignore because of course they're annoyed that it wasn't in their backyard.

Isn't that the 60s all over again? What's next, leisure suits?
😄
I was more of the 70s. Almost no one wore suits and shoes might have heels, but not pointy toes. Mostly, you wore whatever you wanted, and didn't worry much about what others thought.

I think I had some skinny pants with pointed shoes, but not that pointed. Pants not very comfortable.....

And ugly pointy shoes with a suit coat that looks two sizes too small, but I have seen a lot of fashion changes in my lifetime.

These are college kids,.. When you were 20 did the bits and pieces that you put together for dress attire rank high on your priority list?...
