Hopefully these first few matches gets Spencers comfort and confidence up for the finals against Nico. His neutral game has been subpar IMO for his standard so far, but he’s just ridiculous on top and has only needed to get on top quickly to end it. Think he needs a few more tournaments though till his neutral game is fully back
He has wrestled under 3 minutes total, and hasn’t been taken down. His neutral game looks fine.

Sadly, no. We're in the greater Nashville area with our last competitive cheer outing before we hit nationals at Disney in February. Thankfully my girl has been blessed with a relentless determination to excel and a great group of girls, coaches and parents supporting the effort. We won nationals at Disney two years ago with TW Hunter out of Hendersonville, TN, and this year she's on the Liberty Creek team out of Hendersonville, TN (new school we got rezoned to) that has a very real chance of being top 3 at nationals. It's like watching Iowa wrestling...just a great feeling watching young people excel on the big stage!
I saw Berger gave to Brandon Sorenson's gofundme back in the day. he can't be all bad.

Looks like their starting with repechage matches. Only Gas Tank Gary and Schuyler on the bout board right now.
I honestly believe almost everyone involved in wrestling for any length of time is at least a halfway decent human being. The sport weeds out poor character.

Spencer Lee wins the tournament 7-4 over Megaludis and qualify's for the Olympic trials! Congrats Spencer. That has to feel good!

First time on the mat in a while. He is fine. Needs more mat time!!
nico has one of the best gas tanks in the weight class. spencer held up very nicely for his first tournament back.
Ppl always gotta question the gas tank. Lee is Lee, he’s gonna start quicker than he finishes but thought he looked pretty good against someone as good as Nico
Damn, you are a glass half empty guy often times. Considering what he has been through just say congrats and move on!
I actually thought he was just fine. In fact, he was standing straight up at the end. To me, being able to go the whole six and defend is better than a 30 sec TD to lace in this situation. We all know Nico has a nice gas tank.

But Lee needs to be ready on those restarts. Guys damn near jump the gun on the whistle and Lee almost got picked 2 or 3X's off of it.
He eliminates that he probably blanks Nico. With that said, stellar defense, stellar hips, stellar scrambling.

Agree, Nico was looking to jump Lee on the restarts, went hands to the face and then was hunting
That was what I saw aswell. Lee held his own just fine in the 2nd against a high caliber opponent. He looked in better shape than I predicted he would actually. Nice tournament from him. Glad to see him back in action and winning!
Yup, got caught flat footed at least twice and his flexibility bailed him out.
That's also on the refs, don't let guys time it like that or at least don't make it that damn easy. Happens late in every match and it's pretty cheap.
Great win for Spencer getting back into it. Thought his tank looked pretty good compared to some past matches. Incredible strength and positional awareness and was able to deal with Nico's cement ass, to borrow Tarp's phrase. He should only continue to look better as he comes back from injury. Some of those knee positions in the scrambles were nerve-wracking as hell though.
Also cool to see Royce in our guy's corners. Does he have some official role or just legend status so he can do stuff like that?

you’re right, too harsh for his first time back. and way more value in the full match and some impressive scrambling.
I didn't catch the stream, but DeSanto wrestled back for bronze. Got a forfeit from the Egyptian guy, teched Monserrat 11-0, beat Lugo 2-1, then teched Yahya 13-3.
