I never used 247Sports for its recruiting info. Some good info but more bad journalism and the crystal ball is like your magic 8 ball. Wait and you will get the desired effect you want.

I'm not see where Stoops is nothing more than a legacy recruit that is more than a practice body. 1 skilled reach per year, please. Go find athletes that can impact the program. Brooks is at least a big target. Need more speed,

Johnson lockett and Brents did sign the kids just didn' want it announced publically so they could announce at ceremonies lockett officially announced like a week later the other 2 are gonna be closer to or in February

No official info as two kids haven’t announced- Johnson and Brent’s. Kirk said in presser that some have decided not to announce yet and Iowa would respect those wishes

It has been written in papers and elsewhere that the LOIs have been submitted so I am choosing to believe that

I attend a bunch of high school basketball games. When Mr. Brooks, always with his wife, would show up. Administrators would grab chairs to seat him at the scorers table. He would always have his cassette recorder. Loved it when he started his reports with "hello everybody". Definitely a Hawkeye broadcasting legend.

Yes. I grew up listening to Jim Zabel but Brooks was every bit as good. Never heard a bad word about the man and plenty of good ones.

After he spoke, I recognized him and said, 'ahhhhh the Voice!'. His face lit up. A true Hawkeye from the word go, no doubt about that.

I was a WHO 1040 Zabel guy too! It was pretty amazing the three legends that Iowa had calling their games for so many years.

I remember listening to Sharm Scheuerman and Jim Zabel in the early 1970’s broadcasting the basketball games. They may have been doing it together in the late 60’s as well. Can’t remember.

In his recruiting roundup presser, KF said there were a couple of players who had sent in their LOI's but did not want it to be announced publicly, until their high schools ceremony in Feb. We're all doing addition by subtraction. Two players who sent in their paperwork, but didn't announce, and there were two players who were supposed to sign, (Brents and Johnson), that have not been announced publicly. We're all in for a big shock next month if thats not what happens anyway.

When I watched stoops highlights I saw a guy who understood the stage. He wants to be a "playmaker", he trys to be exciting on the field and I don't think we can get enough of that into the program right now. That being said I don't know that he has the talent to do that on a d1 team.

I'd take both and had thought that Brooks already walked on. Maybe its just a matter of coming to practice this summer since he's on track scholarship. I hope Brooks has that Andy Brodell toughness to go along with his track speed. Stoops can be a contributor in some way, just have to find where he plugs in.

The sight of that giant tape recorder is funny, Brooks was WELL known for that. I don't remember which Iowa player it was, but about 15 years or so, he put that humongous thing in front of someone and they said something close to this...

The HC has announced they are part of the 2018 class, but it's apparently still a secret and they will be announcing it later. lol

I think your post was ment to be light hearted and I will respond accordingly. To perform the same treatment your post would end up something like.

"This post just became, I don't know, enough of that."

To put it a different way..... when watching drapes video I see him as the guy that would (soccer sorry) score 8 goals in a JV game and no one would know he was on the field in a varsity game. I think when he has equal too or greater athletic ability than the people on the feild his is a playmaker.( see how many reverses he does or cut backs or highlight catches) but when he would be against better talent or everyone on the feild was equal he would be very pedestrian. (Try reversing feild against a guy who can cover 30 yards faster than you and tell me how successful you are.) That being said our recieveing crew is so void of talent they might bring in a "jv allstar" to see if it translates.

For those of you asking about Brents and DJ please use the GD search bar in the top right. It has been c9nfirmed multiple times by Blair himself. It's really not that hard. I truly think "we"(the u of I staff, fanbase,admin) create problems for ourselves because of insecurities. The no visit policy screams insecurities and we probably could have had a few more players if we would have had a set of nuts. We would not have lifetime contracts if the "what if the next guy loses or is lucifer" wasn't the fall back.

Nope, they didn't forget to put up their videos. Also, 247 and ESPN would have no idea if a kid actually signed with Iowa or not unless Iowa released the information to them.
