...we've gotten a gift of another strong recruiting weekend. I love following it. I think the first memories as a kid I have of following it were in the local newspaper, through small articles written when verbals came in from Melvin Foster, Tony Stewart, etc. Lol. The whole process and dissemination of information are so different now obviously.
For those closer, Iowa has roughly 120 offers out this year. Are all of these prospects "targets"? Or, only a percenyage? Surely, there is a pecking order, but is it like we'll take any of these kids? Or, is this fluid, meaning they have the requisite talent but coaches don't know who to take yet, and it just develops as "fit" is discovered mutually?
For example, the rb scenario this year and last year's quarterback recruiting are interesting. This year, some say Goodson is in the bag and the reason Quincy's rb is out though we seemed to lead for a long time. "The other site" doesn't even have Iowa in the top 2 for Goodson if I remember right. It doesn't add up yet. Last year, we somehow find a great(er?) QB option out of nowhere after all earlier offers we're spurned. How/when does the staff send out "secondary offers"?
At times it seems so random, but I am certain it's not. Can you fill in some blanks in how - generally speaking - offers are extended and organized? Thanks. I realize a lot of these scenarios are unique, but..
