Not sure if this has been brought up, SIAP

First, congrats to BM and his players on a great effort in their win over Missouri.

I was thinking, IF BM is hired as the next BB coach at Iowa, which players would fit in with BM system. What BM does so well, is knowing his players abilities and giving them a system that gives them a chance to win. He is smart enough to realize what he has and what will work. But defense and rebounding will always be needed.

They do a lot of cutting on their offense and got a lot of inside shots. Only had 5 three pointers. 5 for 10

My thoughts and remember that Fran recruits' players that are going to play freely on offense. I am not sure if any of these players would want to play in BM system, having to play defense and rebound.

Freeman - he is gone but more would be needed out of him in rebounding and defense.
Dix - perfect mix for BM
Harding - would really have to improve his defense and taking care of the ball
Pryce - would need to play within BM flow of game, there is not a shot that Pryce does not like, but if he played within the flow of the game, could actually excel. But has to play defense.
Koch - think he would be a great addition
Mulvey - good spot player, but that's it
Dembele - would be a role player but could be a good addition

Would love to see Stirtz and Dix on the floor together.

Everyone suggesting Dix needs to stop. He’s gone and not coming back. His expected market value is $1.5M/yr…as much as our entire NIL currently.

The question asked was who in your opinion would fit in the system?

You don’t think Josh would fit in the BM system? Guess we see different players

What’s the point in predicting which players would fit in BMs system by naming players who aren’t going to be at Iowa next year? If we’re just naming players, then Cooper Flagg would fit nicely….i mean, he has as much of a chance of playing for Iowa next year as Dix does.

All the players entering the portal have probably caused many fans to have a BM or two the last few days.
15th place in the Big Ten?

We should at least $4M next year with revenue sharing and NIL.

But I suspect you are still correct about Josh.

You have no idea what was spent on NIL for men's basketball at the university of Iowa. The $1.4 million figure being tossed about is just a guess and has never been verified. While Dix may in fact be gone, stop quoting an unverified rumor as a fact. Oh, by the way, the Swarm is not the only conduit for NIL funds available to student athletes. There is nothing stopping an individual or a business from entering into a personal contract with a college basketball player.

Dix - Yes because I think he could be convinced to work hard this off-season, put on some muscle, bust his ass on D and buy into McC system.
Freeman - no because of the above cannot be said for him AND he checked out early.
Harding - maybe as a limited minutes backup.
Sandfort - no. Too soft and too slow.
Koch - maybe. Haven't seen enough to know what he'll bring.

No to the rest unless a guy like Traore could be coached up enough to bust his ass on D and board consistently.

Dix obviously top guy but I feel between he and stirtz Iowa can only afford one and BM takes stirtz who has been his guy.

Koch be 2nd player I hope can retain and hopefully as a legacy he can then pryce after him being Iowa guy. Rumors are he’s gotten some high 6 figure offers like from Washington. Freeman as good as gone. What ever his figure sure it’s too high and not worth it and even if Fran stayed I bet he was gone. Harding I don’t see as a good fit for BM and he’s a backup at best.

Dembele if he stays, good. Could be a nice rotation piece but if leaves not a big deal. Mulvey if he wants to play go mid major. One player not in portal i’m very interested in is traore. Lot of potential which just seemed like he was always in Fran’s dog house with a short leash. If stays would love to see if BM could maximize his potential.

Sandford can play. I think we’d be crazy not to want him not stay.

I'd also like to see what Traore could do.

Youd didn't quote the right number which is $1.5 million. You actually have no idea if your protest is correct or if you are instead the one full of chit.

It's a rumored number, no duh. A lot of these internet sources turn out to be correct. I would't worry about it. If we do end up coming up with the $5 million target with Ben, it will mean there was money available, Fran didn't bring it in.

The year is 1996

Iowa has just lost a 2nd round NCAA tournament game.
A time traveler in his 1980s DeLorean pulls over and greets you with a message:

"Your Iowa Hawkeyes will finish in 15th place in the Big Ten Standings in 2025"
Then, he quickly drives on and vanishes.

You stand there in disbelief, that there's no way that guy was from the future - that's just IMPOSSIBLE!!!
