Penara had a really nice line of fox red labs, they were in central Iowa but I think they moved and aren't breeding anymore. Agree though, good looking dog.

It is. He just turned 10. Best dog/friend I’ve ever had by a wide margin. A few here can attest. His son just turned 4 and is a goofy, slobbering buffoon…. Guess the genes didn’t take. Lol.
He was bred by Penara Labs in Collins, IA.
That's awesome. Our first yellow lab was out of Penara, 2008. Had to put her down in 2021. Beautiful dogs. We're on labs #2 and #3 now, a yellow and a black, both out of different midwest breeders but they all know and work with each other, as I'm sure you know.
Cool, ive never heard of them. I just asked because my uncles been raising reds for a long time. He sold 1 to Telford a handful of years ago.

Yessir! Bobby and I have traded training secrets/methods…. Mine is a shed/blood dog. Complete natural with little training. He had an absolutely epic late February afternoon when he was 4 years old where I didn’t walk more than 60 yards as he brought me shed antler after shed antler totaling 16 in less than 1/2 hour. He’s also blood trailed and found every deer I’ve ever harvested with my bow since he was 2 years old….
I could go on forever…. Back to young Mr. Bassett!

Ive got pointing chocolates that go all the way back to my uncles blood before he even got into the reds. Just bird dogs for us though. My oldest isn’t quite 8 yet and I told my wife early on that she was gunna make a good one. She didn’t make me a liar. She’s had a pretty healthy # of roosters shot over her. Likely be the only dog ill shed a tear for when she’s gone.

Not all of us. I just hope the kid stays healthy through his college career. What Spencer did injured was pretty special, would have loved to see him at full strength for 4 years. Seems like every 4-6 years a real special talent comes along. Taylor, Chance, Spencer, and now Bo and Jax. Looking forward to watching them in college and if they aren't winning Penn State titles, I will cheer for them to win the United States titles when that time comes.

Chocolates are great, my brother has had a few, I'm just partial to yellows and blacks.
Sheps are great. I prefer Labs, but Sheps are solid dogs for sure.
Might be a dumb question (or no single answer), but for elite recruits like Bo, can one assume the 'winning coach' already knows, or do they sit and wait for his big announcement show like we peons?
No clue. I'd think any coach who thinks he has this in the bag would be kind of like Jerry Maguire leaving Cushman's house after getting the "verbal" commitment singing Free Falling... lol
Athletes typically call the coaches and tell them sorry but I'm gonna go somewhere else but thanks for everything. And the winners definitely know prior

Bo called at least a couple of the coaches that he turned down. don't know for sure that he called them all, but i would think it's a safe assumption.

Wasn’t meant to be…. Just a shot at how awful PSU fans are already being about it before the announcement is even made…. Even after listing them in his final 4.. Already taking shots at Spencer’s mom, his style doesn’t translate to college, didn’t want him anyway, Bo needs PSU, PSU doesn’t need Bo, etc. Disgusting.

I think the predominant POV from PSU fans is that he’s not coming to HV, and they see OSU as a bigger threat if they were to land him. That practically leaves Iowa, and, well standard Iowa-related message board humor, remotely relevant given the last ultra-high profile PA kid.
I wish message boards made people post real names . It would stop the name calling and disgusting behavior that we read on forums . Bunch of adults calling kids names when many probably have kids of their own.

Oh, we know who you are 😉. I have to remind people that although I’m a PA & PSU guy, I did two years of grad work at Iowa in ‘90-‘92, and even lived with a room wrestler for a few months (Ken Klein). Also roomed with a room heavy at PSU for two years. I have the “benefit” of being a smaller, not particularly threatening person so it’s easy to avoid the “meet me at a bridge” moments.
I was a poster on your boards as well but stopped posting there after some kept being assholes. We all love the sport but sometimes it's just not worth the hassle
