R Smith and I can’t recall the other dude at tailback that’s pretty good maybe Shannon Brooks I believe .. but R Smith is out for the season ... leg injury I guess.. can’t help the Boat Rowers especially how thin they are at QB.. yikes ..
Yeah, I don't wish injuries on any team's players. Besides, just as you indicate - both Smith and Brooks are quality backs. I feel bad for them ... and I'd rather have the Hawks play the Gophers when they're at full strength.Fleck and gopher fans are pretty low on my list, but those guys are quality backs and I actually wish we would face them and beat them with.
Just like last year....and every September for the past 55 years! lolThe Gophers have an extremely easy non con so they should be 3-0. The problem comes in when the enter conference. It is not certain they can win 3 conference games. They are better than Illinois and probably Purdue but I don't think they are better than Northwestern and Indiana is probably a toss up game.
You can't make this cheesy garbage up:
“I am devastated for Rodney, but I know he will keep his oar in the water and continue to move forward and attack his rehabilitation process,” Fleck said in a statement.

Ya, he gashed us for 40 yards last year......Shannon Brooks is a HARD runner and I've always been impressed with him.

Like clockwork...RAH...RAH...RAH...swish-boom-ahhhh....goofers...goofers....ya,ya,ya! Don'cha know!Brooks is the best of the two, although Smith was shifty and fast. Brooks was pretty fast, strong and had good balance. Brooks is starting to get involved in contact drills, as his ACL injury was last January. He never redshirted, so with the new rules he can play four games this year without losing a year, then return next near. Fleck already said Brooks will play when 100 percent and will not play more than 4 games.
They have at least three young backs and two have played and looked pretty good so far.
NMSU was terrible and Miami-Ohio will be terrible this week, but Fresno State is a very tough team and Fresno may only lose one more game the rest of the year. (Boise or UCLA this week, they won 10 games last year and returned most players)
Minnesota is much better this year at the OL, QB, WR,(there are two really good ones and two decent ones) and Defensive backfield (#11 Winfield healty again, #4 true freshman is fast and good). The linebackers were already good. The unknown is RB and DL.
This team can match up well with anyone on the schedule other than OSU, and Wisconsin, with Iowa probably being the 3rd toughest test. They could win 5 games or could win 10 games.
The former QB #17 Seth Green also had an impact, although I am not sure how much more of that we will see.
1:20 mark, WR play

I am not saying they are great, but they will be better than some on this board are assuming, and they were not good at all last year as the year wore on, even though they did not exactly get crushed in IC.
Brooks will play this year and next, that is all I really had to say. Brooks if healthy is a very impressive back, and has been since 2015.
Fleck has to have a trademark and receive royalties or something on the whole “row the boat, use your oars, etc..” How else could someone keep up that shtick with a straight face. You can't make this cheesy garbage up:

Where else could he get away with it other than Lames North?Fleck has to have a trademark and receive royalties or something on the whole “row the boat, use your oars, etc..” How else could someone keep up that shtick with a straight face.
The QB situation really couldn't have been worse last year. However, the current QB situation is less than ideal ... especially when your true freshman QB has to face B1G Ds. Also, isn't your TE situation worse this year (compared to last).Brooks is the best of the two, although Smith was shifty and fast. Brooks was pretty fast, strong and had good balance. He paid Western Michigan 50K for the trademark and they transferred it to his agent, which allows him to use it at Gopher U, or something along those lines.Fleck has to have a trademark and receive royalties or something on the whole “row the boat, use your oars, etc..” How else could someone keep up that shtick with a straight face.

The primary saving grace that I can see for the Gopher squad is that the D seems pretty legit. However, depending on the depth of the DL ... we'll have to see how they can hold up.
You do realize that I'd soil my britches if Minnesota defeated the Hawks with a TR FR QB, right? You do realize Brooks will probably get his 4 games in with one possibly being vs. Iowa and keep his redshirt with the new rule right? They just can’t play him in 4 consecutive but he’ll see action during the real season. Losing Smith hurts, but if you’ve watched them at all the also have the converted qb Green in the Wildcat often who is basically a linebacker (a.k.a. TE) but faster. Defense looks better this year so far, but we’ll see what happens vs the big boys. They already have one of the best WRs in Johnson and one of the best d backs in Winfield in the B1G.
The good news is, at least there won't be that many people around to see you do that > http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/bo...s-win-over-Fresno-State-it-was-the-attendanceYou do realize that I'd soil my britches if Minnesota defeated the Hawks with a TR FR QB, right?

Starts with an "A?" Only fitting Karma, since they had so much fun with his presence here!It looks like a certain angry deity whose name we won't say, has moved north.

If the Gopehers want to embrace that silly gimmick over substance, I fully support it. Do you know how many images of sunken rowboats there are out there? Makes for some awesome internet entertainment if you defeat them. You can't make this cheesy garbage up:

Those helmets, though.
