Another guy who if I recall had some interest in being a Hawk and I'm sure the Hawks are pursuing. He had an outstanding tourney and looked outstanding in the final against David Carr from Ohio. Carr is going to be a good one as well (Flo has him ranked #10 at 152, Berge at #3) and Im sure he'll end up a Buckeye. Berge had an amazing tournament where he dominated everyone until he was challenged by Carr. These two had some amazing scrambles and Berge showed the perfect combo of great technique, athleticism, aggression and power. He looks to be a 157/165 recruit and will be entering his Junior year in the fall. I absolutely love his game and he would be an awesome fit with Marinelli and Kemmerer.

Berge is an outstanding athlete that still has a lot of room for wrestling growth. Iowa or Minnesota is going to get a good one

Did his brother grow a bunch from his sophomore year to senior year? I thought I remember him moving up quite a few weights while in high school.

I believe his brother was 182 as a freshman and wrestled at 195 his other 3 years.

I have it on good authority the Minnesota border is now closed to Iowa.

I highly doubt that.

A good debate would be has minny benefited more throughout the years from Iowa products than Iowa has from minny.?

Example 1. J rob. Your welcome

So wouldn't that then open the door to the discussion about Iowa benefitting from Oklahoma products? (If you're claiming J Rob as Iowa, then Oklahoma State can claim J Rob as Oklahoma -- although he's originally from California).

Don't be so sure Carr has huge family ties at Iowa state I know many people disagree but I think KJ has done a good job with the guys he's been getting and I wouldn't be surprised to see the younger Carr follow in his father and brothers foot steps

Sure. But J Rob's not that significant to wrestling in the state of Iowa. The closest and most significant Oklahoma/Iowa link is Cliff Keen, Harold Nichols' college coach.

Might want to consider Bill Koll's influence on PA wrestling while were on this topic.

I could be wrong as I have been before but I was told Brady had on Iowa gear on over the weekend. Does this mean he is going to Iowa, NO but I think it says we are in the hunt for him....

Considering he's visited, and worked out at CHA on multiple occasions... I'd say yeah, we're still in the running.

Gable is from Iowa, and that is far more important than where JRob comes from.......

I'm not certain it's the only reason he left, but I recall he wasn't progressing in the room as well as expected. His redshirt season wasn't that great. Being closer to home obviously had something to do with him transferring to Minnie I would be elated if both Lee and Brady signed with the Hawks, but not to get to greedy, but we need some recruits from this upcoming senior class. We're going to have some holes to fill. Suriano, Hall, Traxler, Yates, Happel etc. Hoping we can get at least two of them to go with Marinelli and Young.

I didn't he realize he was related to that Carr family. His dad was a stud too. Brother was tough, but underachieved. This kid is really good. He'll make some noise nationally this year at 152. He took Vince Turk to OT at the Walsh Ironman Tourney last year as a freshman and gave Berge a great couple matches. I guess Id rather he be a clone than a Buckeye.

Proximity for the Berge's and where they are located I don't believe could be that big of a deal relative to Iowa or Minnesota. It might be an hour more to Iowa City than Minneapolis from the southeast Minnesota town they hale from. I think it has far more to do with "wrestling wasn't going as well as I wanted it to".

Keep in mind, Sam Stoll is from the same small school. Have to assume they were friends, and Stoll being there a year behind apparently didn't matter in the end. But Stoll is still here, and not going anywhere (unless Bradley comes in and takes his spot...................).

I have a hard time believing Brady would go to a different school, especially the main rival, to his brother's school.

I don't know but Broc was listed as "Minnesota St" at Universities.

Is he at U of M or MN St?

Edit:
guess I could have checked the roster first. He is on U of M roster.

pump look at the tomsen boys

Fair enough, there's evidence against my logic. I didn't mean to say that brothers don't wrestle for different teams, but going to each other's main rival (I suppose "main rival" could mean a number of schools for Iowa)? Here's to hoping you're right and I'm wrong.

No insider info here but I would bet the older Berge's situation was influenced by a women. While there may not be as many examples of brothers wrestling for the same team, there are countless examples of brothers that wrestle for different colleges.

Realistically, Berge wasn't a starter under any conditions this season at Iowa. He may have a chance at Minny this year.

Not sure about broc but ypur completly right about a gf. Its a huge factor. Marinelli's girl is coming to Iowa with him from ohio and so will Spencer Lee's from PA.

Notice the trend plus Spencer will have 2 young gun buddies already here. He going to love being a Hawkeye.

Broc did not leave Iowa because of a girl. Last I knew his girlfriend was staying at the U of Iowa.

sorry pump wasn't trying to be smart a$$, I am kind of disappointed we didn't get younger tomsen.
