Brandon Snyder Could Go Against Illinois

That would be...stunning. And I like it considering the opponent.

But common sense tells me...wait through the break for jTarpwestern.
I've been saying that all along, however if he's cleared, he's cleared. I was just hoping they wouldn't clear him until jNW.

Do people really feel our issue is at safety and Snyder is that much better than Taylor. The Defense really needs a pass rush so I'm not sure how snyder is going to fix that.

Taylor has never impressed me. Can you recall one big play he has made? For as many starts as he has, I barely notice him out there. That isn't a good thing.

I think Snyder would be an upgrade over Taylor. Safety isn't the issue, but you want to get your best player on the field.

I feel like the coaches liked his hard-hitting ability and run support early on, and assumed that pass defensing instincts would come with experience, but yeah, they really haven't.

Lol. He was never a hard hitter and has consistently missed tackles his whole career. You are correct that he's been garbage against the pass all along though.

I notice him every game doesn't mean it's for good things though lol

Early in his career that was the buzz in practice - that Taylor hit hard and was good against the run. Evidently it never translated.

Snyder is said to be one of the field generals when he's out there and is really good with communication and barking out signals. No it's not a pass rush but things like that do make a difference.

I recall Taylor’s big play...turning the wrong way while covering the Penn St. WR on the last play.

Hooker isn't leaving the field.

Snyder will steal reps from Taylor, starting against Illinois.

I expect Snyder to start after the bye. If not sooner.

Our safeties have been caught out of position far too much. Additionally, Taylor is not a good tackler. Snyder will be a lift.

Somebody didn't watch the last play of the PSU game, or the first TD against MSU. Massive mistakes on both. Massive!

Can you define "could" for me? Just curious what you think it is.

In Ferentz speak, it really does mean could. I could also see him not getting into the game and Ferentz saying, we never got into the right situation to get him in the game, as much as we wanted to get him some work but that's football.

I remember watching that play in real time with the zebra right there waiting for the flag and targeting call.

Key was his head was up. If you don't lead with the crown usually you are ok especially on a ball carrier vs. a defenseless receiver.

Get him reps in the Illini game for game speed purposes then he will be more prepared for the second half of the season after a bye week.

Tonight on Hawk Talk, Ferentz said Snyder will definitely play against Illinois.

He is coming back from a major injury, what makes anybody think he will pick up where he left off?

My guess is, he won’t. Would be nice if he is a full go by November though. Considering he is going to play this week, that seems reasonable.

My guess is because the coaches have said he will.

E: they probably, just me hypothesizing, held him out of the MSU game to get him up to game speed.

Yeah, you have to play him. Senior, last shot, worked like insane to recover, great story.

Maybe not starting, but give him a quarter reps at each safety spot and see how it goes.

He is the leader they are missing in the back four. Look forward to him coming back and getting to full strength in the coming weeks. It will really help in pass coverage and communication with the rest of the dbacks.
