Brands you pay for a premium for?

Are there any brands that stand out to you that you realize you willingly pay a premium for?

I'm thinking of products that you could get essentially the same functionality for less money from a less successfully branded company. Or even a product that may be "best in class" and can justify a premium, but your needs may not require the best, but you'll pay it anyways.

I have a bunch of Scubapro diving gear. All high quality stuff, but I know I'm paying a premium for in part their successful marketing. There's lots of other brands that would more than meet my needs as a recreational diver, but I like it, so in some cases I'll pay.

Specialized bikes are another one. Although, I'm currently having success resisting a new one.

Patagonia probably fits as well.

Apple, I would argue PC/android is not “essentially the same functionality”, but I digress
Sunglasses (Gucci, D & G, Prada, Oakley for me lol) wife likes expensive ass shades and I like premium brands as well. Spent a fortune on shades last week in Key west

That’s all I can really think of. Clothing I wear basic ass shit and so does wife. Vehicles are domestic.

I’m tempted to pay for premium deodorant. Feel like the Old Spice isn’t going the trick

I get my “meat” from fresh market - not the local Kroger or whatever

I don’t skimp (store brand) on yogurts, premade smoothies or those little “health” shots they sell in the “healthy” cooler.

I pay more for local honey than I should. $1/oz from a local guy, even though “local” honey in the store is like half less

A lot of stuff, if i think about it. Not luxury high end stuff, as much as reliable quality name brand stuff.
Charmin TP
Tide laundry soap
Cascade Platinum dishwasher pods
Ziploc bags
Glad trash bags
Land o Lakes butter
Stiff like that.

I just don't normally trust store/off brands. I guess that's what OP meant.

I will only buy NB 1080 or their next upgrade from there. sneakers from here on out. Expensive as hell (for me) but so worth it.

Honey is something that i overpay for, so i can get really good local honey, produced nearby. It's supposed to help with allergies, and i think it tastes really good
$30 for a 32oz “mini jug” is what I pay for local. I can get much better pricing when the farmers market is open. But the other half puts honey as a natural sweetener in everything, so we go through a LOT. Maybe 64/oz month?

That's a LOT of honey!

When i was in Virginia it got really hard to buy anything larger than the honey bears at the farmers market. The hippie micro/nano/home brewers would buy up everything for their beers. Used to i could get a 1/2 gallon jug, but it became impossible. I'm sure the beekeepers were loving it - they were selling as much as they could produce, and at premium "artisinal" pricing.
