Brewer was just announced as wrestling 141 at the All-Star Classic. I wonder if this is a temporary bump like Ramos or if it is for the season.

Remember the Ramos bump was because he wanted to wrestle Logan but Logan was hurt...at that point he just said whatever and would wrestle anybody. Good chance Brewer goes up.

Clark and Grothus will both be champs no matter where Brewer decides to wrestle.

In all reality, I was/am looking forward to a Clark v. Brewer rematch in the NCAA Finals.

Brewer won't go 141 because Guiligong from PSU is the top ranked kid and he's going to be champ.

I understand there's a senior from Iowa dropping down to 141 who has one career NCAA tournment victory and who managed to take the D2 runnerup to overtime at the Joe Parisi Open last year. Pretty intimidating stuff. That might chase Brewer back down to 133 as well.

The thought of Guiligong at 41 would no doubt send a 13 seed scurring back to 133, maybe even 125.

Jimmy is clearly formidable based on the clear respect shown to his abilities by misspelling his name. That's how you know when you've made it.

On a serious note, Brewer looked huge last year at NCAAs and really put it on Clark. Obviously Clark has the ability to beat him, but less obstacles in his way bodes better for the hawks.

I'd prefer for Brewer to be at 41, if only because one of his core assets at 133 was his size, and 141 brings him back to Earth a bit. Anyone who watched him at NCAAs knows he is going to be tough at any weight. And I'm sorry but I gotta say it: I think the guy coming down from 149 with one NCAA win beats him at 141. (You know, the guy who's beaten Tsirtsis, Sorensen, Habat, Kindig, and Grajales?)

You mean like Striebler?

Wasn't Ray Brower the kid they were looking for in Stand By Me? That happened years ago, I'm sure he's way under 141 now...unless he's really big boned.

Brewer's going to be tough at either weight, but if he's now just a little too big for 133 and a little too small for 141, that would be a best-case scenario (no disrespect to Brewer--I just mean best-case for Iowa).

Too big a weight cut is the same concern we have about Grothus, but the two scenarios have very different impacts on the team race. If Grothus doesn't attempt the cut, he sits on the bench.

Hey, I guess the idea of cutting weight in-season is not such a crazy concept. And it sometimes appears to pay off @NCAAs.

If you can get through the early matches Thur - Fri at NCAA cutting a lot of weight can be a huge advantage. Brewer looked like 141lber wrestling 133 at NCAAs last year. Dake almost every year looked huge in the finals.

I agree. My guess is Brewer was between 145-150 stepping onto the stage for this finals match last year.
