Wisconsin PBP

It was 8-0 due to the 3 point TD. Totally inflated final score, especially for the effort, imo.
Well then Mikey and PK should still be wrestling. They only got their TF because of the 3point TD.

WTH?

Look what you've made me do!!! You made me agree with @SPOONER (I skipped right over his post originally).

Nothing against Iowa, but that was pretty piss poor wrestling by Wisky. Hard to evaluate Iowa in this meet. 45-0 is 45-0 so congrats. Feels like PSU against MSU. Hard to measure the team.

Best Iowa dual I've seen in a long time, and not just because of the score.

Cruz wrestled his best match ever: first top-20 win, and it wasn't close. Rhodes & Estrada are coming along. The core starters all earned bonus points, including two first-period pins. There was a lot of action, a lot of offense.

Ayala & Parco need to be ready from the first whistle. Will bite them in a low-scoring quarterfinal match.

I'm with Ironside: Keuter needs to get to his offense--all the more glaring coming after the juggernaut of 165-197. He's got the skills. He needs a motivation session with Gable.

Looking forward to Teemer back in the lineup.

Go Hawks!

PBP was amazing. Thanks for doing that. I can’t remember the entire team having such a fire for domination all at once like this in a long time. Great to see. Let’s stay healthy and keep it rolling. Go hawks!!!
Need this same effort Friday against Illini. They're a top 10ish team.

Last time they were in CHA it was closer than it should have been!

They got their techs in the 1st and 2nd periods, respectively. They would get the tech with the old TD rules regardless, unless they fell off a cliff and did nothing else for the final 4 minutes.

It's still a skewed perspective. 2 years ago Kueter wins that 6-0 and everyone would be bitching that he didn't push it and secure the major. Only thing that's changed is the scoring. So now it's okay?

Look I don't like the 3pt TD, I've been outspoken about that, but we can't be satisfied with what we've seen from a guy we all thought would immediately be placing high on the podium.

Maybe it's tank issues, maybe it's not. But it's not unfair to be skeptical at this point.

This is a terrible point. That’s what all takedowns are worth for everyone. What in the actual F?

“He only got that pin because he held his shoulders to the mat for a full 1 count.”
From the perspective of a long time fan, what he said actually does make sense. An 8-0 major isn’t near as dominant as it was only a couple years ago. Granted, the rules are now the rules, but his point doesn’t hold any less merit because of it…

Thank you, that's exactly what I'm talking about.
This isn't at you MSU:

Listen, I'm not shitting on the major. I'm glad he went for it and got it in the final few seconds, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point.

So let's not sugarcoat an 8-0 win over a guy that was 3-16 last year with 10 of those losses by bonus points.

Maybe a little grace. He’s only been wrestling full time for a year so basically a true freshman in a big boy weight while being a little undersized. He’s ranked around 12 and only 2 guys ranked ahead of him return. Maybe some of the tank issue is due to the fact he’s been focused on gaining mass. Conditioning training and gaining mass don’t really go together.

He's a smart kid, he'll figure it all out.

Stop with the conditioning angle. Are Iowa football players not in good condition when they are also gaining mass? The fact is that he is a redshirt freshman that might need a little more time than fans are willing to give.

It’s almost like there two completely different sports with different training requirements. Football players are taking there whole offseason to gain mass and there not conditioning for 7 minutes of nonstop activity.

Addendum:

Dear Wisconsin AD & boosters:

You fired Barry Davis to bring in this guy?

Barry Alvarez was the AD when Barry Davis "resigned." Which was 7 years ago, by the way. Alvarez retired in 2021.

It's been the rule for over a year now. Get up to speed.

"Man, Rhodes sure is lucky there's OT so he didn't tie."

But yet people still scream "TWWOOOoooo" on a takedown. Ironside says it at least 4 times a dual. Hell he was even critical of Kueter's performance today and I'm sure BK and TNT weren't happy with it either.

It's optics, that's all it is. BTW your comparison is sucks. You can do better.

I'm actually with you overall--more is expected of BK than we have seen. I also think he will probably get "there." I just thought your comment was ridiculous. Because, of course, it was.

Particularly when the final td was after a hail mary attempt by Wisconsin in the waning seconds. Ben's lack of movement after the first couple mins is concerning. There's stretches where he's completely flat footed for 10-15 secs at a time in the chad beatty stance. Needs to get it going for sure if he's going to compete for the podium.

So you agreed with my ridiculous comment. Copy that.

I agreed with your opinion. Your comment was comical. And not in the humorous way.

Go back to trying to figure out why Cass would take a full time D1 assistant coaching job in the B1G instead of staying in Iowa City to roll around on the mat.

I didn't ask why, I asked how.
There's a clear difference and if you can't understand that then you're dumber than I thought.

I'm interested in the actual story and not your smart ass commentary.

Has he been injured or missed time in the room for other reasons?
Total guess on my part, I think he has been so dominant most of his career against lesser opponents that this is a whole different animal for him. I'm talking about youth thru high school. He's not used to being challenged a whole match consistently by big, strong, wrestlers.
It's a learning curve and I wouldn't be shocked if as a junior a senior he destroys everyone.

He must interview / come across really well. I was always impressed with him but not many guys get a big ten assistant job that fast without having won multiple Nattys or the Olympics.

Was he not in shape for the U-20 worlds? This is just an excuse. Come on. He just needs more time to adjust. You guys are funny. I am trying to understand what trying to put on weight has to do with his conditioning. Is he not going hard in the room in order to save calories? Please explain.
