Miles Bridges is coming back for his Sophmore year. He was projected to be a lottery pick. He will likely be a POY canidate if he has a year at full health. I like watching this guy play but dang this could make Sparty a top 5 team nationally next year. They had to rely largely on their true frosh this year and with Bridges, Winston, Ward and Langford all coming back plus adding one of the top post players in the 2017 class it should make them the B1Gs top team going into next year. They will still be one of the youngest teams in the B1G but they will be loaded with talent.

Bridges will continue developing his outside game and is going to have an amazing year. He's one of those guys that you love to watch play college basketball because you know he loves it too. Should be fun.

Except of course when he plays against Iowa, then he can go kick rocks

It could help the overall perception of the league which might help seedings.

MSU stays healthy, and they are a definitely a top 10 team.

It puts Sparty in the national title/Final 4 discussion. Ward was great the second half of the year and Winston started to really play well. Add in Jaren Jackson (#6 ranked player) and Hillman (ranked 82) as freshmen, and Izzo is in on 3 other Top 50 recruits for next year as well. Izzo coaching that level of talent could be scary.

They're gonna be a huge problem with him coming back, with their current roster and incoming freshman they'll prolly be thinking NC run.

MSU is going to be beastly with many beasts on the team and a beast of a coach.

In case anyone is wondering, it is possible, but not likely, that we'll play Michigan State twice in 2017/18. There are four teams we've only played once the last two years, so they will have to be home/away this year:

Northwestern
Ohio State
Minnesota
Wisconsin

We can probably kiss an easy Big Ten schedule like we had this past season goodbye. I trust that at least three of those teams will be pretty good.

The final choice must come down to a team we played only once last season. The B1G will pick from:

Michigan
Michigan State
Penn State
Indiana

I kind of hope we play Michigan State only once, at Carver. Imagine the edge we'll have if we pull off the upset! Anyway, this is certainly going to be a take care of your own business type season ahead of us. My early hopes (measure of what I think we can accomplish...but just a couch coaches guess):

Top 25 by seasons end.
Double Bye in the B1G Tournament.
Seeded between 5-7 in NCAA
In the hunt, close, for B1G Regular Season Champs....close...up to the end.

This requires improved rebounding and defense. I expect to see both.

no one cares what you think, obviously.

I think Franisdaman has been proven wrong in the other thread and can't handle it. Therefore is the one acting like a child. Give it up and move on.

That's ok. I lit into you pretty good on another thread. I kind of expected the anger. All I suggest is you grow as thick a skin as the guy you like to play amateur detective on. As to how you feel about me, no biggie.

just putting you in your place, CLOWN.

as you might have noticed, several posters agreed with me in "that thread" and ignored your absurdly long posts that went no where.

you obviously do not have the capacity to put your gold colored glasses down and use some common sense. you lack logic, as well. you put 2 and 2 together and come up with 3. I am sure i am not the only one who has noticed.

What "other thread" did this whole debate start on? As much as I hate to see hawk on hawk violence, it can be fascinating at times.

I guess they can't EXPECT it every year, but my sense is MSU already goes into every year thinking a title is possible.

Don't they have 2 top 75 big men coming in next year too? That's going to be a loaded front court with Bridges and Ward.

Unless there are injuries, MSU will be at least a top 10 team. B1G should be on the rise this year, especially if Swanigan returns at Purdue and IU's players all come back.

CBS Sports has Mich State as #3 in the country right now.

Other B1G teams:
14 Minnesota
16 Northwestern
24 Purdue (they assume Swanigan is gone, btw)

Regarding Michigan State:

3. Michigan State Spartans
Coach: Tom Izzo
2016-17 record: 20-15

Notable players definitely gone: Eron Harris, Alvin Ellis

Notable players also expected to leave: None

Notable players expected to return: Miles Bridges, Nick Ward, Joshua Langford, Cassius Winston, Matt McQuaid, Tum Tum Nairn, Kenny Goins, Gavin Schilling, Ben Carter

Notable newcomers: Jaren Jackson, Xavier Tillman

Why the Spartans are here: The most surprising -- and significant -- NBA Draft development is Miles Bridges' decision to return to Michigan State. It means four of the Spartans' top five scorers will be back. And Bridges could now become the favorite for National Player of the Year.

Thanks for sharing. I don't like IU, but if all of the players stay, I believe that Archie Miller will show very quickly how much talent Tan Tommie had, but didn't know how to coach them up...
