Bryce Brill done for season

Poor kid has been snakebitten since entering college. He and Tsirtsis looked to be an awesome 1-2 punch for a few years. Now they will only get 1 year at most to compete together.

Northwestern's best recruiting class in recent memory is falling apart.
2014 Class
Micic transfer
Sebastion out
Brill out.
These were all top tier recruits.
Sucks.
I thought NWestern was gearing to be the next Minny. Very curious to see where Pariano and his recruiting savvy ends up. I think wherever it is, they're going to get better talent in.

Cleveland State wants Parino badly. Well at least Cleveland State's AD wants Parino badly.

Parino is a Cleveland native and has recruited North East Ohio very well. Obviously this would be a big step down for Parino and I have no idea if it will actually happen, but that is the rumor that I heard. I also have no idea if Parino has any interest in Cleveland State. It is a Division I school though.

The AD is attempting to save face after trying to cut wrestling in favor of Lacrosse and having the entire city and surrounding area calling for his head (Cleveland is a wrestling town, not an East Coast Lacrosse town). There is a guy on themat.com who compiles statistics on different areas on the country and the prevalence of NCAA AA's and NorthEast Ohio (Greater Cleveland) is routinely number 1 or 2, with only Western Pennsylvania (Greater Pittsburgh) ever being more productive/successful.

I think the logic is if CSU can bring in Parino (a highly successful and locally grown coach), the "wrestling crowd" (which included Gable) will stop campaigning to have the AD fired. It would be a great hire for CSU if it becomes a reality.

Pariano was a close friend and an amazing coach. Likely, one of top five coaches in my opinion in the country. Just like a finger in the deck,he kept that sinking ship afloat more than anyone wants to admit. I'm a former NU wrestler and staunch supporter of the program for thirty years. Its so painful to watch, just like being in a dentist chair, hardly imaginable. Problems are systemic and no quick fix in sight, because of crazy low roster limit of 23,approximately, and high tuition and tough admissions. PSU will wipe the map this weekend with NU backups that would not start on Cornell Iowa's team.

I have the utmost respect for Northwestern. They are basically an Ivy league school playing in the BIG.

For the sake of the Big Ten, I'd love to see Pariano take over at Michigan State and make that program respectable again. It would mean one less cupcake on our schedule, but I'd like to see quality programs throughout the Big Ten, and MSU is in desperate need of a young, effective coach. Then, again, it doesn't seem like their administration has paid attention to wrestling up there for about a decade, so I suppose that could scare off a great young coach like Pariano. I wish Drew the best.

Drew is an amazing coach. A close friend, who I was in contact with and was very, very impressed by his intelligence. I have not been in contact with anyone from the team this year, but why on earth are these kids all getting injured and surgeries! Brill,Sebastian, Trirtsis,Oyster,Sliga,Berkowitz? That's insanely bad luck,at the very least. Or perhaps bad coaching,or the "blue flu"! Who knows?
