C.J. Beathard's excitement ... and the consequences of adversity

We were not the only team with injuries. A handful of our opponents can play the same "what if" game.
Point is if someone were to say to most fans that Beathard plans at 65% for most of the year and Drew Ott tears his ACL in week 6, they would think we don't make a bowl game. We went 12-2. You are what your record Says you are.

Not to derail the derailment more fully ... but uncertainty (i.e. luck or its absence) is just part of football. Sometimes you prep for something from tape ... and a guy does something different. That then changes how your respond ... and a chain-reaction results from that. Sometimes veritable turbulence results ... other times, the simple fact that guys know and take care of their respective responsibilities leads to proper execution IN SPITE of the aforementioned uncertainty. On other occasions, field conditions, wind, etc ... also play roles that can impact the uncertainty of things. Again .... "that's football."

The point of the original post was to point out that the Hawks had to overcome A LOT in order to get where they got in January. They faced adversity and responded really well. It leaves one to suspect that they COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA been even better last year had they NOT faced that adversity.

Frankly, it leads one to wonder ... how good can this 2016 Hawk squad be if they don't face such adversity? Or for others ... it leads one to be EXCITED for what we might be in store for!

Some factors that might be of interest to look out for the '16 season ...

- More experience at OT + Kittle's blocking at TE + increased experience at RB (relative to last year) = more success with outside zone plays

- Mobile QB + threat of running game + a little more speed at WR (relative to last year) = the opportunity for more success on boots and play-action ... BOTH running with the ball (by CJ) and on long ball downfield.

- 5 guys return to the OL who have starting experience + Beathard at QB + legit receiving targets in VandeBerg, Kittle, and the RBs = more time to throw the ball and the potential for some more potency in the passing game

- 8 returning starters on D = a better all-around D

- 3 returning starters on the OL + 2 returning starters at LB + high quality returning back-ups (now vying for starting spots) = a front 7 that can be MORE disruptive than last year

- Given the prior point + Desmond King + having 3 returning starters in the secondary = the continued potential for a lot of picks/turnovers

HerkyFan is The IT Server Admin for HRC, I'm certain now. Never seen such a dribble of mindless spin.

Clown fans sure do get jelly. The spin from clown fans on cryclown fanatics is epic. 8 wins in three years but once again they are sure this is the year for 6.

More please.
