I will admit that I don't really follow wrestling recruiting all that closely but my son just told me Cade Brownlee committed to Iowa. I had no idea they were recruiting him. He is a great kid, hard worker. My son wrestled with him for a year or two when they were little. What is the take on him from the wrestling fans?

@Andy_Hamilton: Brownlee went from a non-qualifier in '14 to a state champ in '15. He credited improvement to his work ethic change after an Iowa camp.

His coach at Prep was Chas DeVetter who wrestled at Iowa for a bit. (Chas moved to Skutt this year when their coach Brad Hildebrandt stepped down.) I know when we talked with Chas a couple of times before my son started high school he talked about the Iowa camps they went to each summer. Sounds like it paid off very well for Cade.

I don't know the take but he announced it on Twitter about 45 minutes ago. 174/184.

Brownlee has improved leaps and bounds the last year. He trains out of mwc with Zac Dominguez. He is a late bloomer but got a whole lot of mat time this summer(Fargo/junior duals/etc).

My take is welcome aboard Cade Brownlee!

I don't know much about the young man, but it seems he's excited about the opportunity to compete at Iowa. Sounds like he acknowledged he needed a "kick in the pants" from a work ethic standpoint, and he's upped the ante in that regard, all the way to a State Title. He's probably behind the 8-ball a little bit from a "credentials" standpoint, but it might be one of those "the light came on" late for him and he's determined to make the best of it. Good for him. We need some upper weight kids as well, so good to have him. Congrats to the young man and his family.

Here's the link from Hawk Central about his signing. http://www.hawkcentral.com/story/sp...braska-state-champion-cade-brownlee/72602566/
