top 5 three point shooter in the MWC.

I understand the MWC is very weak, but would be nice to have a PG who can score

Watching the MWT championship game and recognized him. Watching him actually make shots definitely causes one to think what might have been. Just think that 3-4 years ago he was last year's Tyler Ulis amongst our fan base.

Maybe Fran's (bad) luck with PG recruits was baked-in from the very start at Iowa, there seems to be some kind of spell against Fran with PG recruits...... outside of Gesell, a top100 recruit who has had a good but not great career. Maybe Williams or Bohannon will be the diamond that Iowa is missing.

The first two heavily recruited PG recruits I remember were Wes Washpun and Cezar Guerrero -both of whom shunned Iowa to sign with major college programs (TN & OKSt., respectively). Both subsequently transferred to lead mid-major schools to the NCAA tourney. Either would have accelerated the turnaround of the program IMO.

Mike also went 1-something in BTT. Cesar lead his team to conference title. Did Mike ever do that???

No but he didn't transfer from a big conference school and started for 4 years in the big 10 on a team making 3rd straight trip to the tourney. Not to shabby of a career for MG. Good for Cesar his team won the conf tourney where regular season champ won't even make the tourney as an at large seed.

But with your logic Cullen Hamilton is better than Gesell. Hamilton is the starting pg for 14-19 Holy Cross team who avgerages 8.7 ppg and his team won their conference tourney.

Didn't washpun shun the hawks because they dragged their feet on offering him in the first place? That's how I remember it.

Yeah I believe it was cuonzo Martin who coaches Cal now who was at Missouri St when he offered Wes and then kept the offer when he got the Tenn job. Iowa got in really late offering him.

Did the Holy Cross kid shoot 1-8 in the tournament, when he was in his 4th conference tournament??

No he was only 1-4 and a senior as well. But hey he was pg who won a one bid tourney. Which makes him better than MG and yogi Ferrell who also choked and lost his first rd tourney game too.

Hamilton also scored in double figures in 15 games w/a high of 24.

Gessell scored in double figures in only 10 games w/a high of 25. 5 of his double digit games were vs non-conf opponents.

Mike has scored in double figures 2 times since the middle of January. A team that needs a 3rd scoring option, one would think a senior would be able to produce a little more. Just my thoughts. Clemmons scored in double figures 17 times this year!
