Caitlin will be paired with Zach Johnson in the Wednesday Pro Am, Would be fun to follow them.

Sadly, the John Deere Classic is being put out to pasture by the PGA probably after this year. By keeping it a lower tier tournament that very few of the top 75 attend, attendance will continue to drop. If you what to get your last look at a PGA event in the Quad Cities, this year may be your last chance.
Wish John Deere could broker an agreement with either the Senior PGA or the LPGA to replace the PGA event that has graced the QC summer since 1971.

I think it will still exist but to your point, it won’t exactly be star-studded. I think the Tour is in an adjustment phase for a few years and when the dust settles it’ll be clearer what the future of these kind of events look like. You’ll still have the “young guys” who are trying to accumulate money/points to keep their cards. Heck, not long ago Jordan Spieth was a newbie and played in all kinds of these sort of tournaments. But the days of a larger name coming are likely gone, as you said.

I can't remember it being too "star-studded". It was always the weekend before the British Open, and nobody wanted to play that weekend then hop on a trans-Atlantic flight

^^^This,.. There's only so many weekends available during the golf season, and they aren't making anymore.

True, the Rahms, McIlroys, Schefflers, etc were never showing up, but they usually had a handful of names the casual observer knew. They added that deal where they basically have a plane warmed up on the tarmac in Moline and as soon as it was over they left for the British, and that helped a little bit.
It was always cool to see the little kids swarming for autographs dressed up like little Tour players:).

You are apparently right as John Deere just agreed to a 3 year extension, they must be satisfied with how the tour is marketing the classic.
I understand that the players consider themselves as individual contractors, but it would have been nice had the tour implemented a requirement that the players had to attend every tournament once in a four or five year cycle. That is not an unreasonable requirement by any means.
When the tickets were a modest 15/20 dollars that was reasonable, but now the prices have skyrocketed to exceed from 60 to 120 dollars for ground and box seats. This past week the Memorial's tickets ran from 90 to 160 dollars, but there again the field was made up of mostly the top players of the PGA.
I hope that the Quad City faithful attend this years tournament, but watching last years event on CBS, it didn't appear that well attended.
It also doesn't help that the Classic doesn't provide bleachers with shade for us seniors. It was awful last year with the heat and moving the Classic to cooler months is not an option.

I have--and I know many others--have had that same idea about players being required to play each tournament every so-many years. It would be nice to see the big guns every so often.
Of course all of this is thrown up in the air after yesterday's complete BS developments.

I thought Deere started flying qualifiers across the pond as a perk to play?

I thought that the winner of the John Deere was given a auto invite to the next 4 majors or is it just for the Masters that is given for the JD Classic winner?

It's too bad Zach had to get on his phone right away at the start of the press conference. It seemed disrespectful.
