Caitlin is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Do you not realize Clark plays against male BB players every day in practice? In her last interview with Conner and Pat she did mention was as D-1 walkon for 2 years and another was D-11. I realize that JBo is on scholly but I think the whole male vs female arguement is completely overblown. She's a great player and regardless of the outcome I'm sure she'd hold her own in 1-1 play.

If we were talking mens vs women's teams of course the women lose. But one on one it would be fairly even. No one gets separation like Clark and JBO is not the worlds greatest defender. She's not going to beat JBO to the rim but she can get separation to make her shots. She's already shooting over players taller than JBO every day. It would be a lot closer than many might imagine.

It would be great if the school could get JBo/Clark to play 1:1 in a game of 21 for some sort of Charity even.
this is a great idea

Other than the handful of women's games I go to every year I don't watch much WBB, but Clark is going to change the women's game for the better. I hope there are a lot of girls growing up watching her handle the rock. It's completely on a different level from pretty much any women's player I've seen.

If we start seeing more players that can dribble like her, I think you'll start to see the women's game transition towards the kind of guard play that casual fans enjoy more.

Post players should be celebrated too, but Clark is box office.

Nobody is belittling Clark.

Again, the first comparison made was Rocky Mountain stating that he would take Clark over JBo. Many people find that to be a ridiculous statement and are going to comment as such.

Can women compete with D-1 men? Comparing Clark to JBo is as extreme of an example as someone could use. Clark is one of the best players of this era. While JBo is the worst perimeter defender to ever play meaningful minutes at a Power5 school. Yet, even in such an extreme example, a large contingent will shut down the comparison immediately, saying Clark isn't even close to JBo. So one is clearly choosing an uphill argument when comparing a woman to a man in sports and shouldn't be surprised to have that viewpoint met with resistance.

When I was in high school, our girls team was excellent. They won state and are considered one of the greatest girls teams ever in the state. They had three girls that had started on varsity since they were freshman. One of which played in the WNBA. And many played college ball. They knew they were good and all season kept trying to get a scrimmage vs. the boys team. The boys coach knew there wasn't enough to be gained from the scrimmage to devote the practice time to it; so it never happened. But near the end of the season the boys JV coach agreed to have his team scrimmage the girls. The girls insisted that score be kept with 8 minute quarters. It was an under .500 JV team that season. But they beat the State champion girls team by 70 points in that scrimmage. I have to give the girls a lot of credit for sticking out the whole 32 minutes that day, after it had gotten ugly very quickly. But for them, or anyone to think they actually could compete just doesn't make sense.

People are looking at this in different ways. Some are talking about one-on-one. Some are talking about which player they would choose to play for the men's team. Some might look at it as which player they would choose to play for the women's team.

There isn't a multi-billion dollar industry built around the game of one-on-one. I don't care about one-on-one, just like nobody cares that I would outshoot most of the team in a FT contest. To me, a player is judged by how he performs in 5 on 5 full-court basketball.

Maybe there's a case that could be made for Clark being more dominant in the women's game than JBo would be. I tend to doubt it. JBo would definitely be a better defender, even if little effort was applied.

The one thing I can say with all certainty is that Clark would not be able to compete at the level of men's ball that JBo does. It can be argued wether or not she could shake free to be effective on offense. But defensively, there isn't a way she could cut it. We've seen offensive players eyes light up when being guarded by JBo for six years now. We know what that looks like. And know that it couldn't possibly by any worse if JBo were to justifiably get any minutes at all. Nothing against Caitlin, but with the size and fragility of her frame alone, I think we can all agree that she wouldn't be able to defend even as well as JBo in the men's game. So that means no minutes at all for Clark in a big ten men's game.

It's simple calculus. At minimum Clark's defense would not allow her to be competitive in a big ten men's game. Should this be a surprise to anyone? Absolutely not. Men have always been better at sports than women, and always will be. There's no reason for it to be a source of pride for men. Just like there's no reason for it to be a source of insecurity for women. It's called size and muscle mass, which are genetic. Just like men will never be as empathetic as women. It's called estrogen, which is genetic.

Caitlin is fantastic and I don't think anyone is belittling her. If anything, this thread is disrespectful to JBo. Not because Clark is female. But because of the difference in ability as a player. These guys have had to hear for years about how other players were better than them in high school. How they ended up at Iowa because of politics, but really Joe Schmo that couldn't make the grades was twice the ballplayer. 95% of that is garbage. They made it to Iowa because they were good enough. It's not easy and they deserve the credit.

If Clark had exactly the same qualities as a player, but happened to be a man, this wouldn't be a conversation at all. We wouldn't be comparing a player that wasn't able to see the floor defensively, to a player who has played more men's big ten games than anyone ever. The circus side-show element of woman vs. man is the only reason this is being discussed

It is too bad CC's high school coach was so bad. CC should would have won 4 state championships. Instead they only won one state tournament game in 4 years. She didn't even make it to the state tournament her senior year.

Where exactly in this thread is the "she could barely score on a guy, it's a fact" statement made? And Kyle, you as a reporter should take the time to actually fact check it before "liking" it. All I see here that is negative towards her is the fact she is a women going against a man in the same physical contest. She is a multi-generational women's talent. Absolutely a phenomenal player. In a one on one match-up against JBo, it would not be close. That is all anyone with any common sense is saying.
You are an idiot! STFU!!!

she leads the nation in assists.... she makes “crazy circus passes” on a regular basis
I think a few of you are missing the point.....................................................................................................................just sayin.

OK genius - why don't you pick a part what I said that makes me such an idiot in your eyes? Come on, show me how intelligent you are with some thoughtful comments. Let's see what you've got other than JBo sucks.

For those wondering where things could lead historically....and please check my math. Also, I am being conservative on the # of games. Too conservative?

Last season Caitlin averaged 26.6 ppg
This season Caitlin is averaging 27.4 ppg

So, lets conservatively say she averages 26.6 ppg for her entire career.

A lot harder to defend.
No, a 35 footer is a lot easier to defend. Stand there and let them miss. There's a reason only 2 have been made in a game.

Not getting on Caitlin's case. I'm just not a hype guy. A layup is worth the same amount of points as a dunk, yet everyone loses their mind over dunks
