This is way off subject but I've been collecting autograph pictures of Iowa played over the years for more than a decade. My son's bedroom is a Hawkeye room, black carpet with yellow tiger hawks, gold walls with black tiger hawks painted all over, and he has all of my pictures on his wall throughout his room. One player and picture has eluded me for better than a decade and that's an autographed picture of Cal Jones, the former Outland Trophy winner and 3 time consensus first team all American. It's to the point where I would just settle for a good 8x10 of him. Certainly seems anything involving him is incredibly rare. Anyone ever see anything signed by him or cool memorabilia involving him?

I have nothing, but reading this I had to respond. I had never realized just how seldom you hear him mentioned. I've also seen very few photos of him and I have never heard anyone talk about his memorabilia. I look forward to the responses you receive. Very interesting post.

He is truly a Hawkeye legend in every way.

I'd imagine there aren't many autographs of his even out there. He was only a year out of college when he died at age 23. Probably one of the rarest Hawkeye autographs there is.

Love the sports illustrated idea. I guess I didn't realize he'd been on the cover, I should've. Ironically I've already ordered cover prints of this year's Hawkeye cover and the 2009 cover for my boy. Guys I gotta look at the 1985 cover with Chuck Long on there as well.

I'll also send to former players in the mail, the ones who have a history of signing. I have thousands of autographed photos and other items. I do not have Cal Jones but would like one as well.

I lost a Forest Evashevski Hawkeye signed photo in the flood in CR but have 2 others of him in Michigan photos. Not ideal, but I'll use them in cut signatures with a Hawkeye photo. I have many former signed Hawkeye photos.

Don't forget that Stanzi is on an SI cover as well. Karras is on one as a Lion.

There is an article on the site listed above that is a very good telling of what happened to Cal. I have learned a lot today!
