One of the best tips I learned at the University of Iowa was never give your employer a reason not to hire you. Thus we discussed getting rid of all social networking sites. This is logical as you do not want your employer seeing you doing keg stands on your facebook page before you interview.

When it comes to kneeling during the national anthem. First of all there will be more employers that are white and more veterans that are white. This is not a racial issue, the issue is a sure numbers game. Since there are more whites in America then blacks, the chances of there being more white bosses then black only makes sense.

My question is, do the actions these players do now on the field affect their ability to get a job in the future. I surely hope not as I want everyone who goes to the university to be successful. I just think it will hurt them down the line. When the black athlete states they have the right to kneel I will just agree. But I think to myself, your future employer will have the right not to hire you because of the actions you have taken.

I haven't seen a post about kneeling on here regarding future employment and the effects of doing so. I just wanted to get others responses. I'm sure I will get alot of flack for this post.

Kind of like how some fans have the right to be offended by those actions. Those fans then have the right to stop: donating to Iowa athletics, buying merchandise, buying tickets, attending games, and doing anything that supports Iowa football. Most of the players that stood were white. Most the kneeled were black. Why needlessly create this division? They are ironically creating more of what they are trying to fight against. They are trying to fight inward issues with outward actions.

What is sad, is these players are about to start getting paid. They have learned nothing from the NBA or the NFL. When TV's get turned off, there isn't as much money to go around. Who do you think takes a hit first?

I missed the first game (youtube later) as I was on vacation and missed the start yesterday as I got home from work 2 hours after it started, so, it was "start at beginning" on hulu. Late, they showed many, many on the team taking a knee. I will now take a knee against them as I will now disrespect the football team just like it disrespects America and all who served. I am not watching any more Iowa football games until this is eliminated. America is the greatest country on the planet for a black person to live in.

This is one of those hidden issues where no one will admit it as a reason publicly but it will affect people. The biggest issue though is that they are being taught that this type of public display is safe. I don't care what the public display consists of on whatever political or cultural spectrum if you are doing it in the public square it will affect you professionally. Learning discernment is one of the more valuable lessons one can learn in life and these kids are not learning that at all

Sales for example is about making the sale. If you walk into any sales situation wearing a political button you are a fool.

Sounds like there’s ALREADY racial division that many white players, and white Iowans, have never have had to experience. But yeah, it’s players kneeling, not actual problems we need to deal with in this country. Great take.

Nike made Kap richer than most NFL quarterbacks for kneeling. Didn't matter Kap was a racist, divisive, cop hating dude with no real or positive solutions. Nike just wanted to sell shoes (Just not Betsy Ross shoes) and they didn't care who Kap really was. They just liked that he started the kneeling for the flag movement.

if you truly believe it matters to stand then stand if you truly believe you need to take that knee do it. If your only doing one or the other because of others opinions you probably should not be out there during it.
What makes me made is when people who don't know what they are talking about preach to others and suck them in .
Believe in what YOU believe not what others tell you too

Lol what a little baby. Go cry about it elsewhere, ma'am.

You had to go to college to learn something your parents should have taught you when you applied for your first job as a teenager

And this is why calling people on the left "snowflakes" was always hypocritical. It just turns out the right is triggered by different things but it's all the same cheap outrage. Those of you saying this disrespects those who served, that is 100% your choice to believe that. But at a certain point, maybe you ought to at least consider what those kneeling say they are kneeling for, instead of allowing yourself to be whipped into a frenzy where you imagine them kneeling to offend your every sensibility.

Cool. Do the fanbase a favor and never come back, snowflake

Is the Iowa team (and other Big 10 schools) on the field for the National Anthem? The SEC teams have always come out after the anthem is played. Worked out well for 2020.

I made a very difficult decision after yesterday's game when I saw for the first time Iowa players kneeling for our flag. As I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago I was in the Navy for 26 years and I did those years so everyone has the right to express their feelings. I also have the right to find it disgusting. I consider it parallel to ripping the flag, burning the flag, etc. I have gone to Hawk games for well over 50 years and spent probably 10s of thousands of dollars for events or gear. So my decision is I am done. I turned off the TV yesterday and will not come back unless we get a new coach who says enough of this crap. I know some on here will say negative things about this decision. I respect your decision if you want to continue to support the team but also respect mine for deciding to cut loose.

And, Nike is undoubtedly the most popular shoe among looters.

I wonder if he ever pondered how his life might have turned out if he hadn't been adopted by those white people.

How about we protest by crapping on your living room floor. Would you at least consider why we are crapping on your floor? Or, would you be whipped into a frenzy where you imagine them crapping on your floor to offend your every sensibility?

Amen to that. Wife and I are Iowa graduates. Over 20 years buying 4 donor section seats. 25 years service in the Army. No thanks. I’m done as well.

I feel for you guys. I’m not “done” yet but certain appreciate your time and service for our country and fully respect and even support your decision. Those that kneel don’t do it as a way to disrespect our country but at the same time, they do not respect those that think it is disrespectful.

At least you have the guts to stand behind your position- unlike so many people on this board who criticize but refuse to take the step you are taking

I disagree with your assessment but respect your decision.

Some pretty much do it to disrespect the country.

Props to you man. They all have the right (protected by the men and women whose lives were sacrificed to maintain that right) to kneel and disrespect the flag, and we also have the right to tune it out. I’m with you.

No, they absolutely do it to disrespect the country, the flag, and the military.
