…. And how he produced so historically little with a ton of skill position talent. It’s pretty hard to fathom that his offenses in 2021 and 2022 had players like:
Tyler Goodson. Backup running back for the Colts.
Tyrone Tracey Jr. Starting running back for the NY Giants.
Kaleb Johnson. 1st team All American running back.
Sam LaPorta. A top ten NFL tight end.
Charlie Jones. 1st team All American receiver and in the NFL.
It’s really something to be that bad with such good players!

With that kind of talent they should have been able to muster at least 10 wins.

May I remind you that even with this plethora of “great” offensive skill players, if you don’t have anyone to block or a QB to deliver the ball, it’s kinda like giving a sow a pair of nuts. The offensive lines 2021-2023 were some of the worst since the FXL years of the 1970s. Injuries and “misses” were costly. FWIW, LaPorta had a very solid career at Iowa. Sam was A-B10 1st team in ‘22 and 2nd team AB10 in ‘21 and in ‘20 Sam was AB10 honorable mention as an parttime starter. Apologies accepted.

Can we take a minute to let the BF obsession go?!

No, the time let go of it is now. The offense is not helped by those who cling to to the Brian Ferentz obsession. Move on and forward.
This becomes Tim Lester’s offense when he’s had a full year to implement everything and hasn’t had to use Brian’s quarterbacks. Last year’s offense was still on Brian, hence we can still blast him for the nepotism and how much he ended up costing this football program.

I would also argue that it’s not fair to judge Brian until you can see what type of talent he had. Unfortunately for him, there are all these guys on Iowa offenses that are playing in the NFL. Hell we had a starting NFL running back as a receiver and Brian couldn’t figure out how to utilize him. Not a good look for your coordinating skills.

You did not mention the all important Offensive line or the quality of the defenses faced.

2021 Scoring Defenses Iowa faced Wisc #4, Minn #6, PSU #6 Tie, Mich #8, ISU #20, Kentucky #26. Kentucky allowed 21.7 PPG while the top 4 defenses we faced all allowed less than 18 PPG. We faced 4 top ten defenses and 6 top 26 defenses.

In 2022 these are the scoring defenses we faced. #1 Illinois, #4 Minn, #7 Mich, #13 Kentucky, #17 Wisc, #18 ISU, and #24 OSU who allowed 21 points per game. Over half the teams we faced had a top 25 defense.

You do realize playing Iowa dramatically helped the rankings of all those defenses right?

Iowa didn't dramatically help those rankings that is a load of crap, 2021 against Wisconsin #4 defense Iowa scored 7 points as did 2 other teams and Illinois scored 0 and Rutgers scored 3. 2022 Wisconsin #18 defense Iowa scored 24 points and 7 other teams scored few points than Iowa. 2022 Illinois #1 defense Iowa scored 6 points and 5 other teams scored 6 points or less. Simple math would indicate that 1 of 12-14 games is not dramatically impacted by any 1 team.

Then, understand that BF had no way to get the call to this guy with the QBs he had to will with.
Hayden could never figure out a way to get Tim Dwight the ball either. And TD was probably a helluva lot more of an offensive talent than whoever you are talking about.

Who was the quarterback’s coach during this time?!? I guess we should just lay the blame on him then! 🤷‍♂️
Charlie Jones was the closest thing we’ve had to Tim Dwight since the turn of the century.

Hayden was. Snyder was gone by the time TD was there I think. I don’t know for sure who the OC was after Snyder left..maybe the guy who dies a post game show…who left Iowa and weren’t to Western Illinois?

Yeah right now he a joke for us but what happens if away from his father he actually succeeds? Will the rest of the KF supporters finally fall away.

I was making fun of the fact that Brian was our quarterback’s coach and couldn’t recruit or coach the position.

It's really something to have no idea how football works

Good Lord, you're an idiot!

Brian Ferentz took taxpayer money to subsidize his apartment rent while in college. Even though his parents were millionaires.

Like Brian was the only college kid to do this…jeeeebys Christmas…get over the Brian F. fetish and move in….you are worried about shit that happen..10-15 years ago? Did you ever do stupid shit when you were 20-21 years old? And… technically /legally he did nothing against the law. Get over it.

I’m more worried about Brian Ferentz costing Iowa at least one big ten championship. Odds are with even a below average offense the past five years, Iowa wins one or more big ten titles.

Which year?
Isn’t the defensive efficiency largely a product of the other aspects of “Kirk ball”? (Those being personal, special teams play , ball control and field position)

Well, the offense was serviceable in 3 of those 5 seasons. In that time period Iowa played in a big ten championship at a competitive disadvantage that was against the rules.

In the two seasons without a serviceable offense, Iowa also played in one big ten championship game, and lost to the eventual national champions.

Another of those seasons (COVID) was played without a big ten title game.

Not sure what you're arguing here. If you're going to say Iowa should have won a big ten title game in one of those two year they didn't even participate, you might as well say both seasons.

And if a big ten title would have done it for you, I don't ever want to hear you minimizing the big ten west
