Cancel the damn ISU series..we can then schedule a home/home with a respectable opponent!

Buck - we had that chance and Pollard would not let us out for 2 years. He threatened litigation if we tried to get out for 2 years so ND went to Wisconsin. The ND-Iowa deal was for 2 years at Soldiers Field. Both night games. 1 year they are home team on NBC the other year we are home on ABC. Pollard said no and Barta didn't want to give up another home game nor deal with the political fall out of litigation with ISU. So we lost out on ND thanks to Pollard. ISU needs Iowa. They are irrelevant as it is but even more so without us. And they can't get another home and home with a P5. Their last one was in the 90's with Minnesota. That's why they do home and homes with Akron while before the 9 game conference schedule Iowa had ASU, Arizona, Pitt, Syracuse and Missouri (until Missouri chickened out). No P5 teams wants what we already know. ISU is a lose lose. Win and you are supposed to and drop in the rankings, lose and you are a joke. Just pathetic.
Sounds like Barta let Pollard call the shots. If that's the case Barta should have put on his big boy pants.

Tom Kakert and Blair. I would have a quick ban finger for Roy Fuchs. He is nothing but a troll and a time waster.

Yes, the series should end for better scheduling opportunities for both teams.
There you go. The entirety of this well hashed out topic in one sentence.

BS...It would have come out in the press. ND wouldn`t spit at Iowa. Texas had to work their tail off to get a home/home with ND.....your schtick is quite comical and delusional if you believe it.

Dude...maybe sit the next few plays out.

It would also be a lose if we managed to drop those parasites. We’d hear every year about how we dropped them because we we scared and how they’d beat us it we played.

I have no issue with playing ISU. While Campbell is there, they are going to be a good team. No one is going to "laugh" at the Hawks if they lose to ISU.

I have no issue playing a MAC school. It's a midwest conference that plays solid football.

It's that 3rd game that bugs me. UNI, Tennessee Tech, Whatever U - No upside, only downside. But, to switch to a P5 school would mean home/home. Revenue loss would be significant. Anyone know the number?

Unless it’s Iowa State. They don’t get any of either. Yet, here you are with an opinion.

The last time Iowa State played a regular season football game against a P5 opponent not named Iowa was Sept. 13, 1997 at Minnesota.

Since then Iowa has played at Arizona (9/19/98), hosted Nebraska (9/4/99), 8/26/00 Kansas State game was in Kansas City, hosted Arizona State (9/20/03), at Arizona State (9/18/04), at Syracuse (9/9/06), hosted Syracuse (9/8/07), at Pittsburgh (9/20/08), hosted Arizona (9/19/09), at Arizona (9/18/10), hosted Pittsburgh (9/17/11), at Pittsburgh (9/20/14), and hosted Pittsburgh (9/19/15).

Since then Nebraska has joined the Big Ten, favoring stability in a conference not subject to the whims of Texas and Oklahoma. Kansas State was played on a neutral field, in the other ten games the schools all traded home games. Of the five respectable to good teams on the list, it is reasonable to assume all would welcome another Iowa series, as would other P5 schools.

With the Big Ten's nine-game conference schedule and Iowa's insistence on a seven-game home schedule, one P5 opponent per season is almost always going to be the norm. In special circumstances Iowa may trade a home game for a neutral site Notre Dame once in a two-year series.

I have no doubt that the fans complaining about the cupcakes on the schedule would also be complaining about getting left out of the playoffs some year if we lost to a good team.

Nothing gained by playing ISU. No one cares if you beat them. You get laughed at if you lose. Home/home with Texas A&M, Florida or LSU would be much more preferred!
KF and the Hawks have not exactly owned the Cyclones during his tenure. So not to consider them a respectable opponent may be somewhat off base. And don’t comeback with it is their Bowl Game B.S.

Yeah, I'd imagine 90% of the people whining about it don't spend much time in iowa and/or dealing with isu fans :).

Not to mention they put together one of their best seasons last year. We would look like a bunch of pansies(to the whole country, not just in iowa) if we cancelled it right now! Lets wait and see if they can do something in the little 12 again this year. If they go back to winning 3 games a year, we can have this convo again. Until then, it is insanely pointless......
