Can't wait for tonight's debate.......

Rubio has been pretty quiet IMO. he may get a bump only because he has fallen so far the last month. Ben and Trump should tumble, but wouldn't be surprised if they maintained.
He has been, but it may end up being a good strategy. Let some of these other guys beat one another up and stay under the radar.

I keep thinking this as well but Trump keeps yacking and have no idea why keeps going up. People seem to be really pissed off.

I don't understand Walker's minimum wage standpoint, somebody help me out.

He says that the answer to minimum wage is to give people the education and training they need to get jobs above minimum wage. But that is logically irrelevant. If everybody got a job above minimum wage, there would be no people doing the minimum wage jobs.....making those jobs minimum wage.

It still requires people working at minimum wage.

Right?

It's nonsense.

It's also pretty against the idea that they hold that college is over-populated and loans too easy to access (which I actually agree with, I wish we'd bolster the "blue-color' jobs and pull back on pushing every kid to college).

Ok, so what is the consensus here?

Huckabee has to go. Next up is probably Walker, Rand and Cruz. Christie just hangs on with Carson. Carly, Rubio, Jeb, and Trump as the "real" candidates?

I think that is the point he was trying to make. Educating isn't all about books, there are is training as well.

I'm not a Democrat. I'm not a Republican. I find the prospect of voting for any of the 20+ candidates repulsive. With that in mind, I tried to watch the debate tonight and could only make it about 30 seconds before looking for a tack hammer to beat myself to death with. I feel sorry for America.

I would probably switch walker and Christie around

I didn't get that. But admittedly I think I turned it back to watch Jake from State Farm vs. the Pirates halfway through his rambling.

But the point still pretty well stands. Who wants training if our blue collar careers don't pay well? Some obviously do, but this idea that raising the floor is bad for business is debatable, IMO.

Right?
The bigger issue in my mind is just what is his plan to get people the education? So far his track record has been to gut education.

I took it as saying that we need to educate and train so that people won't take those poor-paying jobs. Which isn't an answer to anything.

I agree. Learn how to weld right now you make good money

Right?
Yes. Someone will always be at the bottom tier of wage earners. Judge Smails was right.

How is it an answer? If everybody takes the higher/better paying jobs.....what happens to the lower paying ones? Disappear? Start competing with those blue-collar ones?

Right now you can walk into snap on or hormel and get paid well with good benefits. They can't hire anyone. Why?

Is it a worker attitude? Not sure but now they are hiring immigrants because they can't get workers

Exactly. And if Walker "educates and trains" them all.......why would they ever go back? That is why his wasn't an "answer", it is meaningless to say we will simply raise our people above minimum wage, it ignores the definition of minimum wage.

I don't think it is a wage problem, it is a people problem. Hard to find people that want to work. They are quitting after 2 weeks at those places. That is probably what he should have said.

What I've learned tonight is America is really weak and pathetic, but really great. Mexicans are great at field work, and Americans are too lazy to do menial labor.
I've also learned that several participants in the debate are such novices in foreign policy that they think they can give Putin the back of their hand over Syria, yet expect him to be a partner in dealing with Iran or North Korea. I've learned that Carly Fiorina wants to build a huge navy without having to flesh out the details of how she'd pay for it, where she'd station it, and how frequently she'd use it as the first option. The huge navy centered around the carrier group is a thing of the past in a real war. Huge carrier groups are great when nobody is shooting back at them. Russia may not be so compliant as Iraq was. To put it into tech terms for the former tech exec, she's suggesting we go back to floppy discs.

This happens where I work as well. Those guys that are quitting are making a "training" wage close to 25 bucks an hour. They would be at around 33 bucks an hour within less than 2 years. Alot of them still don't last long.

Jeb explaining how he would decide who to nominate to SCOTUS.

Aren't his dad and brother responsible for some of the most hated appointments by cons in recent history? I bet those folks are keen to let another Bush appoint a few more.

This is probably one of my hardest "right wing" stances, but I think this speaks volumes to my argument about this incessant push to make everyone go to college, and the problems that creates in society.

But in order to really solve this problem, we'd have to make jobs that don't require 4-year degrees more attractive and have to overhaul the high school system to teach those who don't want to pursue the 4-year degree the skills necessary to excel at these jobs.

Oh, and you have to sell American parents on the idea that little Jimmy might not be suited for traditional college, which is not going to be an easy thing (and realistically probably would cause every politician who proposes/supports this to lose any election, sadly).

How does Cruz think he will force the SCOTUS Justice's to not do what he claims they do?

I'm curious how he would do that? Stack the Court?

I totally agree that it should start with school options for blue collar. Not everyone built for books.

Funny that Huckabee points to a SCOTUS litmus test requiring them to believe in the 14th....and that he thinks it squares with his stances on MANY issues violating the 14th.

What are the liberal litmus tests he's speaking of?

Also, I'd be pretty pissed if I was Roberts or Souter right now. I'd probably send Cruz one of my jock straps.
