Cassioppi

Obviously photoshopped. His genetics wouldn't allow for that type of transformation.

Right, @vhsalum? 🤣 🤣🤣

For those wondering what JRod is referring too....

Cass is the definition of outworking your genetics. He's just a fat kid through and through. He lifts and has been consistent since he's been on campus. His body radically changed during his 1s year.

I see Bull finishing the job as well. I'm not sure Eierman ever beats Lee again. His progression from Big Tens to NCAAs and to the Olympic Team Trials was impressive. He beat Zain and Yianni. He's jump levels in a 4 week span.

I don’t understand why you look at this tweet and think he’s smaller.

Juuuust so we're clear.

I guess Cass and Fam took my comment as harsh. It wasn't. Hell, I don't even think I worded it poorly. The kid has worked his tail off to change his entire body. And he did it the hard way. He didn't look like this even as a redshirt freshman.

To Big Tone,

I love you big guy. Love the work you've put it in. You're a shining example of "outworking your genetics." #ncaachamp

edit: Why is it so damn hard to post a pic in this freaking forum?!

Wow! I think he looks great! He is one of my favorite hawkeyes! It pretty apparent he isn't content on allowing anyone in his weight class to out work him. A man who focuses on being better today then he was yesterday is a man to always be respected. Good for Tony!

muscle does weigh more than fat but he looks to be beyond that initial body composition change and really transformed his body...... in a really good way...... can’t wait to see him and Parris go at it now...... I’ve lost track is Gable wrestling this year in college or not?

I have seen several posts about muscle weighing more than fat, so I'm not going to reply to anyone specifically. But Big Tone, had a lot of muscle last year. I would be surprised if he has added any more muscle this year. It appears from the picture, that he has just gotten leaner and we are seeing the muscles he had a lot better. Those muscles have also gotten leaner (picture a ribeye vs a sirloin that is what I am referring to).

He was always a good athlete for a big man, it will be interesting to see how much he has improved athletically or if his athleticism was what it was and he is just a little faster now (picture the scramble he had with Mason Parris where he ended up on his back, can he now scramble with Mason or is Mason a superior athlete). His improved speed difference could keep him out of bad positions like that though even if he still lacks that Gable/Mason athleticism.

This is a really impressive transformation, I don't care how old you are when you make it. This would require a complete diet overhaul, more cardio driven focus, while still getting plenty of strength training in. A total life commitment! It does not appear like he is a shrunken down version of who he was, it appears like he is in excellent physical condition and still strong enough to muscle his way through some moves at heavy weight.

This indicates to me, that he (with the help of some outside sources: coaches, family, ect) did some real introspection on his deficiencies as it relates to the 2 best at his weight and he was very honest with himself that he could not catch them using the same approach.

I am so impressed by this on a lot of fronts. Really excited for this young man. Whether it makes up the difference or not, this is really impressive.

Very well said. It's extremely difficult to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time because adding muscle (tissue of any kind) almost always requires a caloric surplus. The one exception are beginners who have never trained seriously before, and we know Cass is not one of those. The reason why weightlifting while losing weight is important is that it helps you maintain as much muscle as possible while dropping weight which will make you look more muscular in the end even though you likely have slightly less muscle than when you started.

People thinking he's bigger because he looks more muscular probably didn't realize how much muscle he had last year because he wasn't lean and didn't have as much definition. I would guess he's likely 10-15 lbs lighter right now if not more. The fact he was able to maintain so much muscle with such a high cardio load with wrestling and conditioning is doubly impressive.

I'm very curious to see what his style looks like. I think he'll definitely be lighter on his feet. I just hope he's still able to punish people on the mat the same way. That was a huge part of his game.

That's a great point. I really had not thought of this as it translates to his mat wrestling. Obviously the loss of weight will help him on his feet, but at heavy weight a lot of matches are determined on the mat. Can he still ride as hard? How about getting out from underneath, carrying 10-15 less lbs, definitely makes you quicker, but it also likely makes you a little weaker (weight moves weight how many lean power lifters do you see?). Can he get out from underneath a big fella?

Super pumped, I am excited to see all of my questions get answered, and like I said earlier regardless of the outcome, I have so much respect for the big man for going for it! He is obviously a super motivated Tony! A motivated/pissed off man is a dangerous man.

He's always had muscle, and wasn't very fat. But I think he did two things in the offseason, that is, took off fat and also added muscle.

I would agree. He is/was pretty agile for his size IMO. He's a damn good HWT. Very happy he's a Hawk and always have been.

Fat takes up more room than muscle which is what I assume everyone means by "muscle weighs more than fat."

He looks great! I'm curious what his overall weight is now and how much this change in physique will effect his quickness. It can't hurt!

This is crazy. If he loses a couple more pounds we might start seeing some abs. Powerlifter physique right there

I think the losses to Gable, Parris and Gwiz have driven him this summer. Lose some fat, gain speed which he already had for as big as he was.I am guessing 240-250.

Is this photo shopped lol? He’s definitely not just lost fat but he’s gained muscle too. Which one poster already pointed out is damn near impossible without certain things. Obviously he took his diet seriously. Kid looks like he’s on the “Fix Diet” lol. Good for him. Not even thinking about wrestling anymore. He just upped his confidence game 1000%. Thank goodness the ladies at Iowa are corn fed tough ol gals or they couldn’t handle this new white hulk.

i remember the interview after he lost to Gable and he was talking how embarrassing it was and that he was made to look un athletic and he said flat out it embarrassed him. I thought at the time he was being super open in the interview. This dude definitely took that to heart. He looks unbelievable. Good for him.

wwe will be drooling over him 100%. Cass is about to get paid. He’s already further along physically than Gable is. If this is all real. Craziness. He could also smash his way up the mma hw rankings pretty damn fast if he wanted to. Maybe Ferentz is in need of a new guard.

It’s funny the first time a guy gets a real chest he stands up a little straighter, holds his shoulders further back. This is one hell of a transformation.
