Cassioppi

I imagine U23 Worlds (November 1st-7th) are also a .motivator for him, I'm excited to see what he can do. I believe he medals, I'd bet on it.

Looking lean and mean. Going with a smaller, more athletic approach this year?

It’s funny the first time a guy gets a real chest he stands up a little straighter, holds his shoulders further back. This is one hell of a transformation.
It may be inappropriate to talk about standing up straighter when you get a chest, real or fake.

Cass has been a force since day 1 but I'm especially excited to see if he's closed the gap with parris and (unlikely but maybe?) Steveson this year with these physical gains. I have high hopes for him this season.

I suspect Tony will finish 3 rd at bigs and nationals this year.

Hwt. is loaded this year again. Gable and Parris are 1 and 2 and Cass is 3rd until proven otherwise. Cass is a stud and I'm stoked he is a Hawk. He put the work in. Time will tell if it will be enough to move up. I realize the F. State homers think Kerk beats Tony (Just like last year), but after the beat down Cass gave Kerk at NCAA'S I like our guy. Kerk will get plenty of chances this year. Cass will be ready.

I think so too but am hopeful he will be more competitive with the big guns. Kirk was coming back from an injury last season and normally wouldn't compete if the year counted so It'll be especially interesting to see if he can keep a strong lead ahead of him. Big point implications with PSU.

They also said Marinelli would never beat Joseph again after their first match. They were wrong.

This!

He looks more cut than Mason now, let's hope this drastically improves his strength and speed.

Very well said. It's extremely difficult to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time because adding muscle (tissue of any kind) almost always requires a caloric surplus. The one exception are beginners who have never trained seriously before, and we know Cass is not one of those. The reason why weightlifting while losing weight is important is that it helps you maintain as much muscle as possible while dropping weight which will make you look more muscular in the end even though you likely have slightly less muscle than when you started.

People thinking he's bigger because he looks more muscular probably didn't realize how much muscle he had last year because he wasn't lean and didn't have as much definition. I would guess he's likely 10-15 lbs lighter right now if not more. The fact he was able to maintain so much muscle with such a high cardio load with wrestling and conditioning is doubly impressive.

I'm very curious to see what his style looks like. I think he'll definitely be lighter on his feet. I just hope he's still able to punish people on the mat the same way. That was a huge part of his game.
I agree, except you last statement. The punishment will be more severe! You can trust me on that.

He could have spent previous months building muscle and then the last couple losing fat.

Too bad he doesn't lift, just think how strong he'd be. Right @IRONBIRD.

So I was typing this and comp froze up? All I could think of sorry.

CONT. Several things I would expect to see such as Racks, bands, safety Squat bars etc.... Some things(as always) missing. Reverse Hyper, Super or Power squat machine, Marrs Bar etc.... One machine caught my eye and I asked the coach if it was a Pit Shark? He looked at me shocked and ask, "you know what that is?" I will tell you what I told him, been in the IRON Game for 40+ years now!

From past searches on the HAWKS weight training. I have only found a few small bits and pieces. A few things caught me attention. 1) was a kid named Dan Song was a instructor. The reason this caught my eye was he was a Wrestler from LI, NY where I live. Was pretty good as I remember but how he wound up in the IOWA Weight room was beyond me? 2) There was another "guru" who I believe many on here considered very good? There was a short video with someone interviewing him. They were talking and the guy asked. " I see the wrestlers not really using strict form on the lifts, why is that?"

The guru said something alone the lines of. " in wrestling you are never going to be in perfect position...... blah blah blah......" It is 100% incorrect and I would put that out there with throwing a weighted baseball. for the most part, proper form through a full range of motion is the best way to train. using momentum, swing curls for example, would only be used for what is rare overloads in my opinion.

I could go on and on but pick just about any wrestler who goes from college to international and take a good look at the builds. Even the great karl, who went 159-0 never won a gold till he muscled up and he has said this as most others do!

Media day interview Cass said he was 250. Not sure what he weighed in at last year or if weigh in stats are public? Curious what he was last year since he has now said what he’s at.

Yet, Spencer said he used to weigh twice as much as him (125 x 2 = 250), and now says he is only 100 lbs. heavier (225 -125 = 100). Incongruity.

I don't recall exactly, but believe he was mid to upper 260's.
