Cayman Islands Classic TV Coverage

I’m sorry with all the channels and prices today it’s a joke to pay btn even for small $10 fee and this BS for Caymen islands tourney. Telling me espnu fs1 or freaking trutv that airs ncaa tourney games can’t air this tourney. Sad that 15-20 years ago didn’t have to worry with espn + but now we can’t see least half non conf games any more.

This is how I feel. I already pay to subscribe to BTN. I will not shell out another cent for BTN Plus. Just stupid. I’m also not a fan of these kodi / streams, but I feel less guilty about it when they’re trying to rip me first.

Same goes for this Caymen Island tournament. This tournament can’t come to an agreement with any one of these channels, which I have: BTN (PAC 12-SEC), FS, ESPN, CBS Sports or NBCsports.

They mentioned on twitter they’d be including BTN plus with their package so you’d pay $30 for the entire thing. Or if you just wanted BTN Plus it would be $10 but you wouldn’t get to watch the Cayman games. Tough call.

So, bottom line, those who paid for BTN Plus in November will be able to stream these games correct?

Edit: Answer appears be be HELL, NO!!!

lol

It was iowa’s decision to play in a new tournament. It really doesn’t have anything to do with the conference. If they get bigger names in future years I’m guessing a network will pick it up.

OK. I got it now. You were already signed up for collegesportslive. Thanks for the info. But I still don't understand why the FAQ button there doesn't work for those who are new to the site and are not yet signed up.

Yep this appears to be the best deal. Silly that flo website is trying to charge more than what CBS sports live charges. But I registered on that link and it shows the iowa game next week as watchable, for 9.99.

If this tourney wants to be "big time," you would think they would have figured out a TV deal

And when fans can't watch Iowa games, I think that hurts interest in the team, and I am sure that is not what Iowa / Fran want

i am not signed up but i do plan on having a live and replay link available for all =)

It's stupid...agreed. We should make sure the games are actually televised before actually playing in them...agreed. I also already paid the $10 this month, but I will definitely pay the $30 for 3 games. What else do I have going on? This is the thing I care the most about and for less than the price of dinner at Chipotle for the family I can be watching back to back to back days of Hawkeye Basketball. Count me in.

I am guessing there was some relationship with the organizers and Fran sees it as a chance for his team to be one of the headliners.

When I clicked on FAQ's I kept getting some sort of error message mentioning a "developer" and "no data category". ?

I think I can swing $9.99. And I'm sorry if this has been covered. But that's $9.99 for all games in the Caman's, and our NEXT game Grambling State is covered by BTN@G0 or whatever it is that I paid ten bucks for already? And this is all streaming on a computer, right? I DO NOT HAVE anything but internet.

If I'm right, and the link that @Franisdaman already provided is the way to sign up? Than no reason to respond.

I'm just going to have to eat the generic generic cat food and use a dirty litter box...I'll save some money that way. :)

I'm going to take Monday-Wednesday and build a fort with tables and blankets and put my computer and supplies and a bucket in it. I'm not coming out until we beat Cincinnati and win the Tournament.

Thanks for any corrections...if needed...

Bunker Up and BOOM go our Hawkeyes!!!!!! :) We gonna blow it up this year!!!!

Its just pathetic that this tournament can't get the local fox sports channel to cover it. Its a pre-season tournament with some decent teams.

I guess I will be listening to dolph and Hansen then. Also following along on twitter.

There shall be links to watch these games on the same device(s) you use to post to Hawkeye Report.

So, if people want to pay to watch Mon, Tues, and Wed games, the cost is $9.99, correct?

And replays will be available, correct?

What happened to the $29.99 original price?

This is why people continue to cut the cord. With the ESPN channels, Fox Channels and the B1G network it's crazy to think you can only watch half the non con games but yet we fork more and more money for cable.

Replying to @ChadLeistikow

All games will be on radio in the Cayman Islands. Also, BTN has control over home games, not away tournament games. TV decisions for holiday tournaments are decided by the tournament host, not the schools.

This is correct. Iowa chose to play in this tournament in the Cayman Islands, not the Big Ten. The Big Ten has no influence over televising of games on the BTN or its partners if the Big Ten Team is playing away from home.

And to others complaining that the Cayman Islands tournament isn't on Fox Sports, ESPN, etc., I'm sure the tournament would love to be on those channels, but the tournament isn't compelling enough to be on those networks. Cincinnati and Iowa are the only 2 programs with any national reputation in the tournament, and there are numerous other holiday tournaments going on this week that those networks are showing.

The TV situation for the non-conference is not good, I agree with that sentiment. Forcing people for fork over extra $ when they already spend a good chunk of change on a monthly TV bill is a poke in the eye to fans.

Isn't this a new tourney and in its inaugural stage? Maybe the networks will increase coverage in years to come? :)
